Hi guys

Background is I changed my mint SV1000.for a VFR1200 so I could tour and commute on the bike.-.love the VFR - fast, comfortable and IMO good looking

Now I am left wanting something a bit more fun for the weekend like the SV. Problem is ghe VFR is a great all rounder so it needs to be something a bit different

Current shortlist:
Benelli Tornado. (currently in lead - love looks and exoticness!)
Ducati 848 or 1098
KTM RC8
Kwak Z1000
or
Triumph Bobber or similar (something hard.tailed and big!)

thoughts please!

Buy whatever you like, but test ride first.
Only then you will know if it's what you really want.

Thoughts? You are easily pleased, buy the Tornado. Thumbs Up

I like the VFR1200. Is likely to be my next bike.

Stick a Buell on your list. Certainly different, fun toy if you have a commuter/tourer to rely on.

Buy the Benelli, it will definitely sit there. Many months of the year.

The 1098 would be my ideal partner there.

But it is very nice to look at while it is sitting there. In fact I think it is one of the best looking sports bikes ever.

It's a real pity it's an unreliable pile of Chinese shit and not an Italian thoroughbred with characterful idiosyncrasys. Whistle

Benelli Tornado would be an interesting one to own. I've never had a chance to ride one, but the 3 cylinder and radiator under the seat, are something that always fascinated me. I once saw one outside a biker café and couldn't stop staring at all the details and those two fans back.
I also heard some horror stories about the not so great reliability of the Benelli, but that never put me of buying a motorcycle.

Speaking of which, 955i daytona would be also on my list. I mean the one with 2 big round headlights.

I would also try to get a Honda VTR1000 SP01/02. This bike is playing it safe. The MPG might be crap, just like any big V2, but it will be reliable and most of the parts on the bike are generic, so easy to get. Plus, if you find a nice one, it'll go up in value.

Erm - if the VFR is such a good all-rounder, why do you actually want or need the second bike?

A silly under 500cc supermoto would be my second bike if I had the VFR or similar.

I have two mates who have had Benelli Tornados for the last 3-5 years and haven't had any issues with them at all, they have even done a few trips to France / Lux / around UK on them and never let them down.

They rave about them, do sound nice too when they gun it.

Edit: here is a pic of a VFR1200 and a Benelli next to each other from our recent trip. to save you imagining...!

A supermoto something (CRF450?).

If it were me (money, space dependant) I would be looking at something retro inspired like a W800 or Bonney.

I've got a GSXR1000 alongside mine. Better suited to track days. Cool
