I was going to my friends after work, down a small windy housing estate road. It was dark (11.30 pm) I was going along at about 25 mph, seeing as I didn't know the road too well. Came up to a left bend. Soon after I realised it was A LOT sharper than i anticipated.
All I could do was run wide. slam on the brakes, in which I had very little time to do. Smacked into the pavement on the other side of the road at an angle. Thus bouncing me off the top off the bike and jolting the bike upwards, throwing me into someones garden (luckily onto a nice soft patch of grass). As I hit the floor I watched my bike sliding along side me on the pavement.
Got up thinking only of the bike and not any injuries I could have suffered. yanked the thing up and checked for damage.
Damages: -
One new tyre
One new fairing
re-bend handlebars
New indicator
Never felt more of an idiot in my life as I watched my bike sliding. I feel I have learned a valuable lesson from it, and I feel a lot more cautious than I was.
Oh, and crashing a bike hurts, and its expensive |

just fill in that big crack with some chemical plastic (liquid that sets hard) then paint over it. as for the scratches, use wet and dry, (extremely fine sand paper) to get the worst off, then just use t-cut and rub till ur hands bleed. or u can just find a slightly less damaged 2nd hand one usually find decent ones at bike shows |

You can fix some cracks with a soldering iron and some plastic, i.e. the sprue that's left over from a modelling kit. Melt and fill the crack from the back, to leave the surface OK-ish. ____________________ My Old CBR400RR | Bike Oil FAQ | Petrol FAQ |

bad luck mate
I had my first accident a few weeks ago, it makes you feel ill - it's not a case of "what's up with me" it's more like, "my beautiful bike " ____________________ Peat

exactly......
real sorry to hear that, wasn't that long ago i had a similar accident on a corner on mine, sliding along the road with my bike, the horror!! (all happend when a car came speeding around it, so i swerved to miss him, doing so made the bike slip from under me, and the driver of the car didn't even stop!)
and i did feel such a prat afterwards, but i was more worried about my baby pug then anything, (was also angry) i agree that you should get back on the bike asap, dont let this lil experience put you off, it can happen, anything can, so dont blaim yourself.
consider yourself lucky, if another car was coming the opposite way then there would have been trouble.. |

I couldn't give a crap about any injuries to myself. It was so serial. Couldn't believe it actually happened when i got up.
I could see the curb getting closer and closer and braced myself. I knew exactly what was going to happen. Then i was on the floor. Its so sudden.
I realised afterwards how lucky I was to land in a garden. There was a wall next door. That could have been the end of me going head first into it.
Sods luck was I had just bought a new Shark helmet and it was my first ride out with it on only hit my head on grass tho. I doubt theres much damage. Big dent in my shin though. God knows where that came from |

Yup. I knew straight after what I had done. I'm sure I could have made that corner. I was going wider and wider, and saw that dreaded curb. Its a lesson you've gotta learn, the painful way if necessary |

Crazy: Same bike as me, almost the exact same paintjob, and the exact same crash, only I did mine a couple of weeks ago. I guess we do all do it eh? Still, you're in one piece which is all that matters.
One happy surprise for you though, you can replace that fairing nice and cheap because there's the one you need on eBay here. |

I think it was more of a realisation he would never make it followed by throwing the anchor off the back and hoping to stop in time, or with minimal brakage.
You underestimate the road, paid the price and hopefully wont do it again . |
