Hi all,

I'm thinking about a motorbike trip to Ukraine, mostly to visit Chernobyl and Prypiat, but probably also a Kiev (it's not far). If any of you was on that kind of trip and can say a bit more about it? I've heard that you need a lot of different permissions to get to the Zone and it's much better to travel there with some kind of guide. Is it true? Maybe you know some Ukrainian websites where I can find some more information?

Cheers!

This Bulgarian guy makes it look easy and seems quite approachable. Though his presentation style is a bit wooden he knows his stuff and will respond to you directly.

I can count the number of times I've been to Chernobyl on the fingers of one hand. Eight so far.

Smile

It is definitely a bucket list thing, a good friend of mine went there a could of years ago, but for various reasons it would be challenging for me to file in her footsteps. It's also with reading "Voices of Chernobyl" for an oral history of the accident and it's aftermath, in the form of interviews of survivors and relatives.

This is a trip I've been wanting to do for a long time too.

None of my Euro touring buddies seem up for it though, so I had considered doing this on my own one year, but I think going solo would not be as good.

Wow, I would love to go and do something like that! Keep us posted on how you get on with planning/touring Thumbs Up

I need to get a shift on and start planning out something for next year and somewhere like the Ukraine could be a possibility.

I've done chernobyl tours and it was pretty interesting, I was most fascinated at how much nature had taken over since the surrounding area had been evacuated.
