Hi I have just bought a A reg mtx 125 but the headlight doesn't work all the others lights indicators,horn,brake light etc work fine,I have check all the connections and there is nothing obvious I even swapped the light switch unit with a mates one off his bike which works and still the same no front light,has anyone got any ideas

You do know the lights only work when the engine is running yeah?

You may have a bad earth which is the bulb holder wire to the frame.
Have you a wiring diagram because you may have a headlight relay switch which is operated by the handlebar switch.

It doesn't. It's the most super basic lighting system you'll find.

It's direct AC lighting. There is a seperate section of coil on the generator that produces power for the headlight and tail light.

It's a totally seperate circuit to the rest of the lights and there's not much to it so it's easy enough to chase through if there is a fault.

It's also perfectly capable of popping all the bulbs one after the other in a very short time. Especially if someone has been fitting non-standard wattages in an attempt to make them brighter.
