Hi All

Just wondering, as, to be honest a little surprised. I thought I'd have a bit of a saunter on the Mash tonight, taking in Bassets Pole. When I got there, there were far fewer bikes than I would usually expect to see. I could understand it if the weather was bad, or if it was really cold, but the weather was mild & tranquil, only other thing is it was dark .. Very strange.

Well, Rainpal® hasn't shipped yet, so obviously we can't ride in winter when it's raining.

I had the heated seats turned on on the Trophy yesterday. On low heat. When I put it on full toasty bum mode it's time to snuggle her down in the garage and sing Christmas carols to her.

Winters are for cars.

Ive put the bandit on trickle charge as the trips out "just for fun" are getting less and less frequent now.

Will get to the point soon where its just sat there waiting for Spring and I only use the FA for commuting till then.

I've decided not to put the mitts back on it though and see how I get on with just the heated grips this winter though. Shocked

No, but tonight I will be doing pre-road salt prep. A good clean, calipers apart for clean and re-grease pins, ACF everywhere else.

First sign of salt, the VFR is getting put away. Gonna oil up the enfield for winter use (need to stop fixing those leaks).

A number of the local Enfield guys have started their annual pamperthon and rewiring session in their nice warm workshops.

I might get around to washing mine. If it's not freezing, pissing down, or I have to take a server or two anywhere, I'll be on the bike.

Laughing Laughing Yes that must be it ... Just seemed odd, I can understand, not taking a leisure ride out in the cold and wet, but, when it's mild & dry, and it's a ride you'd regularly make. I've already noticed on my commutes, a decreasing number of bikes out. I just didn't think the climate had deteriorated that much to put the bikes into hibernation ..

Must be climate change, disrupting the hibernation cycles, just like it does for those poor hedgehogs !!

Not quite yet. But I think November will spell car tiems. Fazer is just jealous cause he’s on a low income and doesn’t have the choice.

Apart from ACFing mine after it’s had a wash, mine are always ready to go .
As long as it’s not raining , icy, snowing, I will use mine when I need to or want to.

Cars are for bad weather and carrying stuff.

Been running mine at the start of the commute for a couple of weeks now. Not essential, but cosy. I've also got the lining in my jacket, wearing overtrousers (albeit unlined at the moment) as a matter of routine, started wearing a buff again and either thermal gloves or heated grips ( not cold enough for both or muffs yet). Early morning can be in the low single figures at the moment.

I have one of these:
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/QZ4AAOSwnOJWFOEU/s-l300.jpg
From ebay. There's an on/off switch attached to the wiring harness, so you can get a relatively 'stock' looking job once its done. Pretty sure it was self adhesive too. Took maybe an afternoon to get all wires in and hidden correctly.

Rain I can handle now that I have half decent gear.
Ice and snow is a no no for me, have dumped previous bike on black ice so have a real fear of it happening again.

Triumph will get cleaned and tucked away before first salt.

The GPZ will get a wash and doused in ACF 50 and then ridden through.

It's not the cold, or even the wet thats the problem, its avoiding completely ruining a nice bike with corrosion when it's almost impossible to keep on top of washing them

This, ACF through a cheap spray gun after a wash and the bike is good to go when i feel the need for a ride and its not icy or raining.

for people who dont use the bike for commuting, the days (weekends) available to ride are becoming few and far between. Rain most days = slick roads, cold temps and riding becomes .. not fun. Add on the fact of more crap on the roads = dirty bike = rust etc, its just not worth it.
