Done this more than once in the early days of my biking career.
You can be doing no miles per hour and still get dumped on the floor Evil or Very Mad .
It hurts and is expensive Evil or Very Mad .

All the above = use the car!

Ditto, but I'll stick to a nod.

Cant risk taking a hand off the handlebars with all this murderous black ice around.

genuinely didnt know that was a thing on bikes... i wonder if its difficult to put in on an old seat that needs to be recovered anyway Thinking

My heated seats are OEM.

I have to say before having them I thought it was a bit of a joke. OK, warm bum but when does your bum get cold anyway.

However cleverer people than me say it's all to do with the body core temperature and they are very effective keep it's temperature up.

And after using them I have to say it does make one hell of a difference in shitty weather.

That's the point of ACF50. Don't wash it once you've applied it.

I know, hence whacking it on my cheap bike and running it, but I'm not covering a Triumph in it and hoping it will clean up like new in the spring, they have a rep for corroding fasteners and shit powdercoat even at the best of times Rolling Eyes

Underneath Smile Remove some staples, pull back the cover, stick to foam, re-apply cover. Re-staple.
I also made a small hole in the seat base/foam for the wire to go through so it went straight through the seat, rather than running it along the surface.

I guess you could stick it on top, not sure it would be weatherproof though.

I've seen this posted elsewhere, but never seen it on my bike (ACF50'd) or the Triumph that was parked in the street with no cover for about 5 years a couple of streets over.
I've found mine's corroded less than the BMW oilhead I had before.

I won't be venturing out on a bike if there is the merest hint of ice or salt. Spent many years commuting in all weathers and my knees/elbows suffer in the cold now as a result.

Also, it doesn't matter what you spray a bike with or how quickly you clean it after a spin, salty water always finds a way in and does damage.

Bikes for good weather, cars for the rubbish....

The R1 was SORNed at the end of September if only because I only ever tax it for six months of the year nowadays.

The FJ1200 is also only taxed for six months so that will be SORNed at the end of November,as I taxed it mainly for our French Euro trip this year and for the occasional ride out somewhere with Mrs.Fizzer,as she finds the FJ more comfortable to the Exup for a rideout.

But the Exup,KTM and XR-SM are taxed and on the road all year Thumbs Up Smile Thumbs Up

If it's icey/snow Tut Tut Been there, didn't like it.

Rest of the time is fair game, although I do have use of a car a few days a week. Did jib out one February heading to Gloucestershire when I started shivering uncontrollably after an hour on the motorway.

The six months tax thing probably accounts for a big drop at this time of year; tax it in April ready for easter, it runs out at the end of September.

That's not so much of an issue now you can do a pay monthly thing online, and sorn it at any point (so you could run March - October with a few clicks, rather than old-school having to post the tax disc back for a refund).

Have to agree with that. I have cars sitting here, unless there is snow and ice they get left home. If there is snow and ice, I work from home anyway Smile

I saw a guy on a cruiser style bike today, in leather jacket and (I think...) jeans, riding through the floods "up north".

It was absolutely pissing it down and cars were crawling through the flooded sections.

Not my idea of a good time. I'm guessing the poor guy had no option.
