I wonder how actually these kind of airbag jackets works.
This one is a crash against soft dirt. Not a solid object like car or road surface.
I read some youtube comments and some points out this video as "staged".
If they did this staged, I think He's a good actor. But I don't think so.

I'm disappointed that air-jackets are still not affordable for all. They've been used in racing for well over a decade.

I didn't know air-jackets were used in racing Embarassed
I've checked some videos. Must see more racing.

Some of the airbag systems allow for 2 crashes.
Rider falls off, airbag deploys, deflates and resets.
Handy if you're Marc Marquez.

I have He-lite vest with back protector in.
Good for when you arent on bike as you dont have to walk about with jacket with one in.
Can be reset by user unlike the Dainese one which requires sending back to be reset and are a bit expensive but look the part and dont require tether to deploy. Styling of He-lite jackets with it fitted are a bit crap hence why I got vest.
Hope I never use it.

Oh they were Busters had them for ages and couldn't get rid of them for ages. IIRC they went down to about 90 before a few people bought them.

Thanks a lot for a comment regarding actual usage of this vest.
Vest type looks better than Jacket type with the system in it. Walking around with heavier Jacket isn't nice. I wasn't aware of that.
"Can be reser by user unlike the Dainese one" is very important point.

I wanted to understand the mechanism and found the explanation video.

I recall a couple of them going off during a 'moment' whilst on the bike.

Dainese's products were more expensive than my bike even with street type jacket! what a price tag. Who will buy them...
And d-air racing misano was priced like 400cc bikes Shocked wow.
Maybe for top end racing users. (battery powered, ic controlled) etc
Requires sending back to be reset should be even costly.
Maybe not for normal riders.

Regarding air bag vest types, it looks like Helite is popular in west, while it's not sold a lot in asia. I found some "Hit-air" brand here though.

I have the Spidi Venture DPS jacket, the idea behind this one is that it holds your helmet/head in place to limit a broken neck/collerbone rather than the full body airbags of other versions.
Looks like this when inflated (random picture, not me)
http://www.lequipement.fr/produit/blouson/spidi/venture-neck-dps-airbag_004__200.jpg
I have had the airbag deploy in a crash, seemed to do it's job, and i've never had it deploy unintentionally (i.e when getting off the bike) It takes quite a bit of force to activate it.
Spidi now do a full body version which I'll probably upgrade to at some point.
They are expensive, sure, but I think they are worth it.
