So I've got myself a set of their touring hot-grips. Instructions make them look fairly easy to fit, opinions anyone? I must say the race against time with super glue is a bit off-putting.

I wouldn't worry about the glue bit - just make sure the grips go on before you add glue (there may be, for example, remnants of old glue on the bars that stop them sliding on), then when you add the glue it lubricates them sliding on anyway.

Before you glue them, also do a dry fit to check where the cables need to come out so that you don't foul the tank when you are on full lock, or any plastics.

That's pretty much it, really. Obviously it's good to power them from a switched live rather than rely on their auto-power off function.

Yep. What Bamt said. Make sure they fit (you might have to trim any ribbing on the throttle sleeve off first) and work out the positioning of the cables first. Make sure the levers don't foul the cable exits. Once you've got all that sorted, spread the glue on and slide the grips in place - you'll have enough time to do this before it starts to set. Thumbs Up

The fact that they're heated and get hot, the inside sleeve of the grip is a hard plastic rather than rubber, that they state on the installation instructions that the supplied superglue is the only stuff that actually works...

Take your pick Razz

Hairspray would be my adhesive of choice with a standard rubber grip though.

Superglue takes 20+ seconds to set and longer if you keep it moving.
More than enough time.

Also, the superglue isn't permanent (at least not on the left, not tried removing one from the throttle tube yet), so it's not as scary as it sounds.

You can easily remove the left hand grip by giving it a sharp yank (done this several times on different bikes for things like changing bars, or getting access to the switchgear to clean it).

Okay, not quite the reply I was hoping for but I was wondering what makes Oxford grips so different from other brands? why superglue? I've never used any kind of glue ever on heated grips.
