hello BCF and Teflon Mike

I have a CG125 that a friend gave me 1979 the year, it is making some vibrations and loud rumbling when accelerating and at speed. when i pull in the clutch its a rather smooth ride, which leads me to believe there is a problem with the chain sprocket, clutch or gearbox. I have the clutch puller and I am thinking of breaking down that side of the motor.

EDIT: does anybody have ideas about how to go about troubleshooting the rumbling and rough vibrations?

anything i should look for? or am i an idiot

Oh you son of a bitch, you have no idea what you just did. Laughing

Inb4 loose engine mount bolt. (...and a serious Teffing no doubt)
It happens curiously often with CGs though.

Chain you can easily rule out, just be meticulous checking your chain tension all the way around (plenty of guides on the intarwebs).
Then wiggle each link and make sure none are rusted tight or massively loose/damaged.
It's highly doubtful anybody chucked an Oring chain on a CG, so no worries there.

It couldn't hurt to whip the wheel off and check the cush drives too (rubbery stuff that sits behind the rear sprocket to dampen vibration)

Check the stand isn't contacting the chain when it's up.

If you've got both, then either stand. Mine only has a centre stand.
