Has anyone other than youtubers actually had any success with these?

i must have used a good 3kg of kn03 now and all ive managed to do is either it go up in the pan... hairy moments! or it burn way too slow and barely crackle or burn really fast and hot with next to no smoke.

ive followed many recipes with ratios with baking powder to slow it but still nowhere near a smoke bomb more an explosion in a pan or a slow burning piece of shit.

Don't bother and buy some? You can get them for £1.40 each if you buy ten.

Clearly not, judging by your opening post.

I made one with Nemo which filled a quality street tin.

We closed the Ashford to London train link for about 2 hours.

We haven't made any since. Laughing

Given the kind of "luck" you have, do you really think its a good idea to be playing with explosive/flammable chemicals in you kitchen.

I await the impending "help I blew my hand off" or "help anti terror police just smashed my back door in" threads

Made loads of it back in the day.

Did it outside in the shed over a camping stove though. The key is to do it slowly. 50/50 mix simples.

Exactly that, slowly. Took me at least 4 hours to make 10 or so decent sized (loo roll filled) and another 3 or so to make a decent chunk for a tin sized container. Low heat, barely enough to caramelise sugar.
