This is true.

Often (before I became old) when driving in Wales, bikes would overtake fastly and loudly in places I felt weren't safe, or wouldn't be safe for a car. I would tut and roll my eyes but never saw an accident.

However since becoming Mrs Suntan and going pillion, on Sid's FZ-1N I've learned that these things accelerate so fast, those bikers were never in the danger I thought they were, nor (usually) was anyone else.

So that's my explanation, they don't get it. Rolling Eyes

I'd say three quarters of the people I overtake don't like it - probably because my loud, vile exhaust pisses them off as I rag the fucking nads off it right by their window. This - correctly - gets interpreted as aggressive, hooliganistic and pointless. The reason I know they don't like it is because I feel them accelerate - but I've been planning my move from before they even knew I was anywhere near them, have already kicked down a gear or two in readiness to launch, and unless they're driving something pretty meaningful and have been alert enough to suss me hunting them down, it's never going to happen. Resistance is futile.

Fwiw I often give a quick left hand wave after I've passed - intended to convey the message "yeah I know how that looked, and yeah my can sounds fucking horrible, but shit - ragging the fucking tits off this shitter is so much damn fun...I know you probably don't get it, and just think I'm an irresponsible tool...and that's more than half true...my only excuse is I'm a fucking lunatic and probably only going to fuck myself up in all this, so just let me get on with it...cheers, b'bye."

Often I get abit pissed with people seeming to block me from overtaking but maybe they aren't doing on purpose.

Had one guy screaming fucking dickhead at me for an overtake after he caught up me while I was waiting at a junction, one guy in bolton didnt like me filtering past so he moved into the right turn lane then cut back in front of me dangerously..I kept a big nut zipped tied within reach incase somebody did a dangerous thing like that again.

When mad biker scum overtakes me I generally don't mind
as I'm usually contentedly humming along to Des o Connor and picking bits of wine gum out me dentures whilst staying a good 10% percent within the speed limit
However
I do flash angrily if I see a bit of a tater peeking out of the seat of their leathers and I assume it's one o them Rainpal riders, the dirty bastards.
Its filthy and unnatural is that, you could cause accidents showing off yer bizarre sexual fetishes on a public road
Stop it ok?

I'm a bit confused. The op objected to the old guy driving a Honda and allegedly being intolerant to bikers. He seems equally ageist and critical of non bikers. I'm not far short of 70 so apparently fit into the old fart group. I also ride one of the fastest road bikes and overtake whenever I can. No it's not the oldies who are solely to blame ( many of them were hooligans back in their day anyway!) - it's general road rage. We bikers piss some drivers off. Some cagers piss bikers off. Not sure which group I fit into. Don't care too much for pigeonholing, mind. Live and let live. Oh, and let me get to 60mph in 2.5 secs please! Laughing

Really? Apologies if it came across as that, Im not. Thumbs Up

I did say "Seems to always be the old boy" - Its merely an observation based on my own experiences, not pigeonholing.

And it does say in the original post that I just overtake and ignore them. Thumbs Up

I nod at other bikers always but think it's a silly habit since I won't speak to most if we met in a shop, still think ignorant bastard if they don't nod back though. I usually take my helmet off if not using a pay at the pump place, saves me waiting for them mimicking the action of taking the helmet off through the window if they won't serve me with it on.

I get beeped/flashed all the time. It's definitely them. Been doing it for years and not died yet. Not even come close to dying.

There's two explanations why they're flashing you. You're either making them feel uncomfortable. Which is highly likely. You're on a 'dangerous' high powered death machine overtaking them. Maybe give them a bit more room. The other is, they are dicks and don't appreciate that you don't want to sit a 45 in a 60.

For maybe 50% of my journey into work (London) it's spent in the middle of the right hand side of the road. Know where the junctions and driveways are and make yourself stand out as much as possible.

I think that people are misreading this.

Flashing & hooting are signs of appreciation. They're saying: "I wish as was as cool as you, Dude."

At least, they are when they do it to me.

There can be no other explanation. Thumbs Up

So the correct response is actually to turn around on the bike a full 180 and give them the double handed figer point gun sign and then wheelie away?

Thumbs Up
