Hello..

so for some time ive been thinking about dash cams.
primarily so i can become a vlogger on that youface and get plenty of followers.... sooner or later people will send me free shit to review.

and no.....

so for some time ive been thinking about dash cams.
nothing fancy just something simple that will not require me to do anything once installed.
i had been looking at some of them £200 systems and just couldn't being myself to spend the money.
however recently it was my birthday and id been eyeing up some of the cheaper £60 ebay jobs.

so cheap unit was purchased.

in the box is

footage looks like

the unit auto starts when the igniotion is switched on and auto off after 1/3/5 min. it auto over writes the SD card when full and locks files based upon Gforce (when hit).

i get the picture is not £200's worth of HD....

but overall for £60 (plus SD card) i didnt think it was a bad shout at all.

Was promised £60. Saw £60.99.

Features :
- Wired controller device (NOT INCLUDED)
- GPS tracker (NOT INCLUDED)

How do you sleep at night?

Also, 720p, no thanks. It can be hard enough making out VRMs on 1080.

Thanks for the info ... I was looking at these myself wondering if they were worth a punt.

Is there a save button, or is that only activated by Kitten Impacts?

on its own only activated by gforce.
but you can get a wired controller which i think allows you to lock files on demand.

Interesting. Automatic is quite good because I was thinking about mounting it hidden under the seat anyway.

I've seen them with the GPS and remote for £65-70.

The GPS is just for geostamping the video rather than being an actual "tracker".

Might stick it on the Xmas list. Agreed, Rog, true HD would be better but those grabs don't look too bad for the money.

my old car had a £15 one that did just as good a job as that.

was tiny too, just a little cigar shape.

wasn't going to win any quality prizes but the video was passable.

parent's said they'd buy me a dashcam for my new car as a birthday prezzie so now looking at something a little more higher end. leaning towards the nextbase 512 or possibly the duo hd. can't decide whether the dual cam is worth it.

I'm certainly interested in this.
I really like the idea of a fit-and-forget device that will just record away and hopefully provide evidence in the event of a SMIDSY; I do have a helmetcam but frankly I can't be arsed to fit it every time I go out; making sure it's charged and has space (it doesn't loop). This one has got rear-view too, which is a plus. Admittedly it's not HD but hopefully any vehicle who causes my grief will be close enough to capture the reg number. And it's got to better than the current alternative, which is nothing. Lack of HD means I certainly wouldn't advocate it for vlogging though, if that's the OP's aim.

For purely incident-recording purposes, I wonder if it would be worth fitting both cams at the front of the bike to maximise the overall field of view, though? Or buy two units!?

You know, I'm pretty sure he was joking ...

Interesting idea!

But a rear camera would be great for incidents like this!

I'd be interested to know what kind of current this draws.

Having the cameras operate while you are away from your bike would be good in case anyone damages it. (Thinking about shopping centre car parks etc - not leaving it all day at work running)

If I were going to buy one, then it would be a Blackvue. I know of someone with them fitted to a fleet of
private hire minibuses he owns and he swears by them. He claims they have paid for themselves threefold as he runs
this fleet in the Hackney area and as you'd expect, he gets chancers trying the crash for prakash routine fairly often.
He has them front and rear on all of his motors (inc his personal ones) and they have kept his fleet premiums very reasonable.

Edit - I thought this thread was about dash cams, not bike cams. Oh well.
