basically my battery has been bodged on with a nut rather then the small threaded square block

turning the bolt ion the top doesn't work as the nut under spins as well but there isn't any room to get a spanner on it

tried wedging a screw driver in it but the bolt has fused to the nut with corrosion over the years

paint pic to help understand

so how can I get this bolt off

If the bolt is one of lead type things you may be able to cut the top of the bolt off with a pair of these:-

Stick a flat bladed screwdriver between the nut and the terminal wall to hold it still.

My time to be a bastard.

Did you even read the first post, faggot etc.

My advice, crowbar. Use it to rip the terminals off. Cut bolt at leisure and buy new battery.

Why not disconnect the other end of the lead (carefully without shorting) and remove the battery with the lead and then junior hacksaw the bolt head off. Or drill it as Sol says.

/\ You couple of pairs of tossers. /\

You need a Thermite Hammer to get that off now.

Or you could try a scoot of a thread lubricant/penetrating stuff (WD40 is not the best BTW) and (with you flat blade screwdriver wedged in the side of the nut/two screwdrivers one on each side) then try to tighten the bolt into the nut again.
More lubricant and slacken the bolt again.
That will help work the lubricant into the thread and small turns will hopefully break off any corrosion.

Bigger screwdriver.

Or you could just undo the other end of the lead.

For the sake of a centimeter of cable I'd just cut it off and crimp a new terminal on, assuming it is actually that difficult to remove.

Edit: just to clarify, I mean snip the lead flush with the end of the current ring terminal. Though I do have an abundance of crimps which admittedly you may not.

You’ll be needing the use of car and fencing wire.
Attach wire to terminal (a couple twists around the post should do).
The other end around the rear towing eye on the car.

Next bit is vital; somebody must sit on the bike with the brakes on.
Also important for car driver to keep a consistent force on the wire ( this is achieved by monitoring the rev counter closely and not getting distracted by checking the mirrors).

Your worries about that stuck nut are but a few minutes away.

Give it a soak with some plus gas or similar then wedge two screwdrivers into the terminal, one each side of the nut. Make sure that they're hard against the flats of the nut and then try to undo it.

Four screwdrivers, one either side of the nut and the other two in orifices of your choice.

Jeweller's up the japper and the bigest available handle first as a butt plug.

Reckon the first priority is to get the battery out and on the workbench first, even if that means disconnecting the other end of the lead. At least you can work on it better.

As others have suggested, use either a couple of flat bladed screwdrivers to jam the nut, or fabricate a piece of metal to wedge in between.

I've used a flat bladed screwdriver to jamb the nut and remove the bolt. It's never failed me yet, all you have to do is make sure you stick it into the closing gap as the nut turns, not the opening gap.
