I seem to have missed this, it came in today!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-41695116

Quote:
Drivers of older, more polluting vehicles will have to pay almost twice as much to drive in central London.
Mayor Sadiq Khan's £10 T-Charge, which mainly applies to diesel and petrol vehicles registered before 2006, has come into force
.

Quote:
From Monday 23 October, there will be a £10 daily fee for those who drive more polluting vehicles in the congestion charging zone, on top of the existing £11.50 congestion charge.
Vehicles that do not comply with the Euro IV exhaust standard must pay the charge.

However I have checked my 2002 TDM and it seems fine, I'm sure it only meets Euro 2...

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/emissions-surcharge/emissions-surcharge-checker

Did anyone know about this!?

Not for much longer, from 2020, or if Citizen Khan gets his way 2019, your bike will have to be Euro 3 (2007 onwards)

From the link you posted:

TFL wrote:
Euro emission standards

For newer vehicles, the Euro emission standard may be listed on the V5C in section D.2. If your vehicle meets the required Euro emission standard, it will also meet the required T-Charge standard.
The T-Charge standard is:

Euro 3 for quadricycles or motorised tricycles (motorcycles are not subject to the T-Charge)
Euro 4 for cars, vans and minibuses
Euro IV for HGVs, buses and coaches

But...

The ULEZ as been discussed I've not seen a single mention of this T-Charge.

Apparently my '04 diesel Avensis is fine, according to that site. Not that I have any intention of driving there, but still - useful to know. Here's hoping the site is accurate...

Both of my cars are subject to the charge, but the bike isn't. All moot, as I never intend to set foot in the shithole.

CBA to find anymore. I think I brought it up in this section, although there are so many charges it's hard to keep track of.

There's no need to check individual bikes because if you go by vehicle type instead, no motorcycles are affected.

As I said it only mentions the ULEZ.

Under consultation:-
The London Emissions Surcharge (ES charge, or formally called T-Charge).

Possibly due to come in this year, covering same area as current congestion zone. Will run until ULEZ charge comes in (2019/20). Motorcycles will be except from this. Other non Euro4 vehicles will pay £10 (on top of current congestion charge).

Neither the bike or new car are subject but as you point out, it's not going to apply.

What annoys me with the whole thing, as theyve decided diesels are bad, i parked recently in central london and if you jave a pre 2016 diesel you have to pay double parking charge.

Surely it should be anyone buying diesels after this time, as they knew the charges were coming, and that the government is all anti diesel now?

But no, hit the poor people where it hurts, whereas mr new car in his 3liter diesel merc is fine.

God i hate London

The existing fleet, yes.

All new black cabs have to be green hybrids.

Regulations for them are several years ahead of Ubermobiles, which is a genuine point of grievance for the #BlackCabsMatter mob.

Maybe they paid the necessary tribute shekels to the gods of extortion climate change to get the car exempted. Praise Gore. Long may he be Carbon Neutral.

Oh, I know this. But considering the galactic mileages they are capable of if kept maintained, where is the incentive
to upgrade to a new one?Do you think many of the old guard will be cracking their wallets open to the tune of £55k
for a new electric/petrol cab? It's hard enough getting them to pay tax on their earnings.

The Greater Good.

Really, we're discussing this over in the Hug Trees thread. If you just explain to people why they should beggar themselves, they're OK with it, apparently.
