My 2008 bandit is not starting, when I press the button it’s just making a weird electrical noise and the screen with the time and mph goes blank. Bike was working fine yesterday when I took it out for a spin to Blackpool. I was trying to fix my rear brake Earlier as the switch is faulty and sticking so while attempting a repair left the ignition on for like 40 mins while testing the brake light multiple times. Is it possible that the battery died that fast or could this be a bigger problem? Any help appreciated thanks

Yep, battery.

Forty minutes with the ignition (and therefore headlight) on is probably enough to drain it if it's in anything other than tip-top condition.

Charge it and see?

Yep, the battery it was. Shocked how fast it died to be honest, bike starting fine after 3 hours charge

Be aware, because the battery has been flatted, it may not be holding a charge aswell as it once did......batteries dont like to be deaded

+1

Totally flattening them is often enough to bork it to the point where they are never the same again. Especially with winter coming up, the cold won't help. Have you got an Optimate?
