Hello, last June I had an accident whereby I was involved in a low speed slide.

The fairings that are damaged are fairly heavily abrased and one is slightly cracked around the mounting screw.

The whole one side of the bike is damaged from the front fairing including the rear one.

On the other side, there is also abrasions to the edge of the one fairing and will have to be re-profiled.

I have been given a quote of £350 where I have to take in the panels and the tank off the bike, and he will spray it in any colour I want, put me in touch with a guy that does cheap transfers, fit them and spray another coat of laquer over the bike after the transfers are fitted to protect them.

What I want to know is if this is a good price?

If it's not, then where the best place I could go to have them sprayed. Taking the panels off is not a problem.

TIA

I'm not an expert, but I'm in a similar situation to you and got a quote on the weekend for £150 plus any replacing decals (which I'd sort, not them). That covers cleaning up scratches on the front and right side fairing which I'd say were about 'medium' depth and re-spraying and lacquering both fairings. There aren't any cracks in either fairing and the profile is still fine on both, although one of the holes for a fairing bolt needs tidying up.

I don't know if the guys that quoted me are any good or if that's a good quote but it might help to gauge whether or not £350's totally overpriced or not. Smile

Edit: To clarify - that's just the front and right side fairing. No left side or rear end bits.

Hi

£350 is probably a fair enough price. Local guy here charged me £267 to respray a Cagiva back in 2000, £450 for an Aprilia about a year ago and about £250 for respraying some of the panels on the Bimota a couple of months ago.

The large outfits like Dream Machine would charge around £750.

All the best

Keith
