"the system" doesn't actually need people to be productive in it anymore anyway. Our unemployed l/under-employed/unemployable are simply futurists, early adopters if you like. Perfectly fulfilling the role of pure consumers of the crap an increasingly sparse number of people engage in producing and delivering.

So stop whingeing. Soon enough you will be moved into the pure consumer role and your "job" turned over to an automated system. So cheer up.

I don't claim (nor am I entitled to) any benefits, why do I get treated like a sponger then?

When bnp72 publishes his own tax returns where he declares them honestly, you can complain. Until then, don't worry about a fucking thing.

Sure, just like paying the mob for 'protection'. No point arguing about it, it's just the way things are done.

Because landlords can charge whatever they want, or is the person I know paying (the same landlord) a lot less than the tenant below them being subsidised as well?

Taxation is a necessary evil. If you don't like paying it, don't use the tax funded services. Pay privately.

We had an interesting moment in economics class today.

Won't bore you with sophomoric repetition of new content, however;

If you tax goods, you lose some of the market efficiency (deadweight loss, if you're bored and want to look at some fancy graphs with triangles)

Turns out, the amount lost from the net economy is much lower if you tax stuff people desperately need, and not luxury items.

Therefore, in government policy decisions, it is better to tax bread than yachts (wouldn't want to put the yacht producers out of work, essentially).

Thinking about tax (and economics) makes me sad, because literally every ideologically designed idea will fail or lead to suffering.

I miss being able to join in the bleating about taxing the hell out of the rich, without any knowledge of why it would back fire.

Or believing Corbyn's socialist plan of slowly dismantling our economy by lots of incredibly reasonable things.

But yes, tax is theft and avoiding it is a damn good hobby Thumbs Up

Unfortunately, when everyone does it, we will have anarchy.

So, treat it like a game... and rich people can hire much better coaches/trainers.

That is my final take on it, anyway.

It's only necessary because the biggest mob in town makes it so. It's not actually a law of nature.

I have private health cover. Where do I claim my refund on what goes to the NHS?

I don't want to pay into the pension Ponzi scheme, or for cockholsters, migrants, mongs and other assorted oxygen thieves.

Is there a form I can fill in for that?

Bin emptying? Police (snigger)? Fire brigade? Ambylance? Emergency care? (I know they're not necessarily income tax funded, but you only pay them when you're working, so...

Without the NHS many doctors would not be able to moonlight for BUPA. So the general tax you pay is the minimum. The BUPA cover is the premium above the minimum.

I dunno. How defensible is your home? If enough people don't pay semi-voluntarily or not well then it stops being semi-voluntary and people take.
