PostPosted: 19:57 - 07 Nov 2017    Post subject: Human rights.... rant Reply with quote

Today I was moved off site.... sorry... escorted from site (like a criminal), because I refused to fill out a glorified survey on human rights.

My argument, it's a load of crap.... paedophiles, child killers, mass murderers and terrorists should have no human rights... but they do. People with terminal illnesses are forced to stay alive against their will to suffer, foreigners with serious criminal records fight deportation at the tax payers expense, people are freezing/starving to death because they can't afford the cost of living, some homes are unfit for human habitation (in some cases should be condemned) but the government has just said they are fine, (yes I watched the Russell Howard thing on the housing shortage)... and a couple of other things.

Their reply, it's a [company name] requirement and since you've refused you'll be taken off the [company name] contract with immediate effect, you will be escorted off the site now... leave your ID please.
Total time from start of interview to being removed from site.... less than a minute

So my views on human rights was 80% of the reason I refused.... the other 20% was about another guard.

Almost 4 weeks ago a guard who is regularly late wasn't allowed to leave early and spent the next 30 minutes verbally abusing the supervisor.
Total time to be removed from site.... 4 weeks and counting.

If you want to continue to work there you have to work by their rules....either that or find another job. Same wherever you work I'm afraid.

Theres lots of things people don't like or agree with with their jobs....you jist have to sign it and get on with it.

I'm not allowed to continue to work there.... I was effectively banned from any of those sites.

I should have pointed out that I was asked to do this "course", then told I better do it, then told I would do it or else, then told if I didn't do it then there would be ramifications.... sorry, but to me it's on par with telling a vegetarian that if they don't eat a slab of meat they'll lose their job.

I'm a stubborn c**t when I want to be and I don't have many beliefs, but this is something I feel strongly about and I refused to be threatened and bullied to do something I did not believe in. All so I could deal with the public from all ethnic groups..... I was a bus driver for almost 7 years ffs, the only complaint I got in that time was from a black gentleman claiming I was racist because I didn't have change for a £20 note Rolling Eyes .... I think I have a fairly decent grasp of "human rights"

In my opinion.... speak/treat people how you want to be spoken to/treated yourself..... don't discriminate against anyone.

What am I doing wrong?

Just lie. Bullshit surveys require bullshit answers. Fill out the form with the answers that gain the most bullshit points, and sleep soundly in the knowledge that it means nothing.

If found contradicting said answers at a later date, say "I've changed my mind".

Their gig, their money, their hoops.

Generally they do this to protect themselves from being sued. If they do get sued then it's a case of but he did this this and this we did all we could to vet him. So we are absolved of responsibility should something happen.

The fun thing is it actually does the opposite as employers give secret orders not to hire certain groups to avoid litigation. A few months ago a Jewish woman sued a company that didn't hire her because she needed Fridays off. She hadn't even been employed but still won about £20K. As a result I'm pretty sure the company will put CVs with names like Goldstien into the bin.

Slightly longer answer?

Rights are supposed to be absolutely inalienable and thus they are given to everybody without exclusivity. Else they cease to be inalienable rights and merely privileges.

^^ this. Your views and beliefs aren't wrong. You just preferred to stand your ground and it cost you a job. So you stood up for what you believe in, which is great. But, i would have held my tongue and lied. Their box gets ticked, everyone's happy

It's a bit like those visa waiver forms you get to fill out when flying to the States.

Well done 👍

If you feel that strongly about it - there is no other course of action.

Only you know your own situation and whether losing said job will impact yours and people around you’s lives.

If you can take up that slack then fuck em. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

(If you can’t - then good effort, but get a job sharpish!!!)

Laughing I that wonder about a lot of these discrimination cases, that are usually brought by disgruntled former employees.

One of our customers has said they will take up random drug testing for visitors on site. The drugs list included some legal (script) drugs. Shocked Failure means permanent expulsion from site. Laughing

Next time I get wind I'll be there, I'll be knocking back some Tramadol and behaving strangely. It's a ballache of a place to go, full of cunts.

I'm still confused. You were asked to fill out a "glorified survey" - as such, was this not a chance to log your thoughts and beliefs on the topic within the survey? Or is there some unexplained additional clause that you are expected to fill out the survey in a particular way or meet a certain profile?

Every time I buy something online I am asked to fill out a survey on my experience. If I respond in the negative (or, shall we call it, constructive criticism) they don't bar me from going back.

I'ts not a survey, a survey is when you are asked for your opinions with no 'come back' on the end result (if you try t affect the outcome then whats the point in the first place?)

Sounds more like a test to me.

I'm guessing it was some Common Purpose produced 'training', that it was 'suggested' his employer force on their low level drones, just to ensure that no hurtfeels complaints were made about them being structural shitlords.

If you'd done their thingy; you might have learned about your human rights; which may well have involved knowing how you can't be forced to take things about human rights!
