hi all

so last week by up and over garage was broken into, most likely an opportunist thief as they bolt cropped the bit on the garage door where you put the lock, stole the lock, but didn't touch my bike inside (heavy chains, disc locks etc) - so either couldn't lift the bike themselves or didn't have the right tools for the job. initially I thought it was mine which was targeted as on my side it was the only one, but they also broke into a garage on the next block too.

many of the garages around here have the garage defenders installed so I am guessing it has been a problem at some point, so I have installed one myself to stop the opportunist thief (obviously it won't stop someone with an angle grinder, and no chain will stop them either)

is there a decent wireless battery powered alarm which I could stick in the garage with a loud siren so atleast if someone did get in this may put them off continuing their raid?

i am in a block of flats and the garages are in the car park approx. 50m away from the flats but are overlooked by them.

after living in croydon my whole lift i thought moving to a "nicer" part of london - beckenham, this would be enough but i guess these scrotes get everywhere!

Being discussed here.

Having just moved away from SW16 (Norbury) i can say with full confidence that Croydon is a shit hole.

While there are nicer parts of Beckenham (as there are in many areas of London) the scrots are going to think nothing of a 20 min ride to go stealing are they.

An opportunist thief doesn't go equipped with bolt cutters...

I have a caravan Alarm. It runs off a car battery (lasts about three weeks). It has a sim card so it texts and phones me if the alarm goes off. Cost me about £130 and about £10 a year for the sim card.
