Hi all,
Been out of the biking game for a little while due to various reasons.
I've just bought my fourth Hornet. This was the only colour I didn't have of the 98-02 Hornets and happened by accident really. This is the cheapest and messiest Hornet I've had so lots of polishing and cleaning to do to get it up to the usual standard!

PS anybody know how to insert images to the post without stretching them?
Cheers, Tim. ____________________ Speedshite 50cc > Honda XR125L > Kawasaki GPZ 500 S > 02 Honda Hornet > 05 Honda CG125 winter hack > 04 Kawasaki ER-5 > 99 Honda Hornet 600 > Kawasaki GPZ 500 S > 99 Honda Hornet 600 > 05 Honda CBR600F > 01 Honda Hornet

To do list:
- A good service! Last service on paper is 2013 but I'm hoping it's been done since then!
- Clean & polish the headers up - I've bought some Harpic Power Plus to try for these!
- Give any bits that I can do a good polish with Autosol
- Find the paint code for the black, some small chips/rust areas on the tank
- Sort flickering numberplate light
- Change the awful Mickey Mouse style mirrors
- Paint forks
- Try to tidy up paintwork & remove swirls - looks like somebodies cleaned it with a bloody wire brush! ____________________ Speedshite 50cc > Honda XR125L > Kawasaki GPZ 500 S > 02 Honda Hornet > 05 Honda CG125 winter hack > 04 Kawasaki ER-5 > 99 Honda Hornet 600 > Kawasaki GPZ 500 S > 99 Honda Hornet 600 > 05 Honda CBR600F > 01 Honda Hornet |

On Saturday I got to cleaning my downpipes, as you can tell from my previous bikes I love a bit of polishing haha.
Started with this:

After using a bit of Harpic Bleach (wasn't all it's cracked up to be) and a couple of hours solid polishing with Autosol I got to this:

Still not perfect but lots better than they were!
Also ditched the Mickey Mouse ear mirrors:

There was some horrific reflectors stuck to the number plate, these were one of the first things I took off when I got her home.

Really not a fan of the "shotgun" tail lights but too much hassle to remove the undertray & lights and source originals so they will be staying (providing I can fix them!)
I have a question regarding the engine oxidation (or at least I'm guessing thats what this is) - the little white areas caked all over the engine. Is this permanent damage or can it be undone with a bit of scrubbing & WD40?
