Here a few bat tales for you.

Whilst on a balcony in southern Spain I explained to a girlfriend how I could encourage bats to come closer by producing high pitched squeaks.
Coincidence or not they flitted closer...and closer..and one went into her 80's permed hair whereupon I may have urinated myself.

At my sisters; The kids been put into bed, us adults chatting downstairs when one of them comes down and says they can't sleep because something is making a noise.
Upon investigation it was a bat flying around. We tried the open windows a shoo-it but it evaded us and made for the landing, did a lap of the lightshade and entered the front bedroom where it went batshit mental doing the fastest laps of a lightshade ever done by a bat trapped in a 1970s semi.

We grabbed a sheet and threw it over the whirling furry turbine. There is a photo somewhere of me holding it before freeing it.

And everyone lived happily after..... well until one of us had a long bout of illness the other had a divorce and lost everything,

Do bats hibernate, then?

It's been so long since I did any kind of scientific/biology homework, that I've forgotten. When hibernation is mentioned, I tend only to think in terms of bears and squirrels.

God I hate having this much life behind me.
You don't realise just how much you've forgotten.
I had a conversation with a mate about writing our autobiographies (she has to write some of hers before I do mine), and we were thinking about how to seek out the facts we've forgotten. Luckily we had each other to remind one another of things (her dwarf story is funnier than mine) ... but you don't always have that luxury.

Was rather impressed they were even around let alone out and about this late in the year!
