Had a text from my daughter yesterday.
"Dad, I reckon it's time I got a new car - can I get some advice off you?"
"Yeah, sure - so what are you after then?"
"Small and black, with Bluetooth"
Actually, it reminded me of when, about a million years ago, my gf and future wife bought her first car, a clapped-out mini which used more oil than petrol. She immediately got on the phone to her best friend, to which I heard only one side of the conversation:
"Hey it's me - guess what, I've just bought a car!"
<pause>
"Blue!"
TBH I don't have much more idea about cars than my daughter really , so if BCF has any good recommendations of vehicles to consider (or avoid) it would be much appreciated. Remit is as above! Budget undecided but probably a couple of years old?; reliability is all, needs to look 'cool' for a 26-year-old I suppose; used for daily commute and occasional long motorway trips. ____________________ KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS->R1250RS |

Not so silly. A blue car burns less oil than a red one, cos it's much slower. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

For coolness, I asked my 22 year old daughter, she has a polo 1.2 diesel and loves it, she also suggested Seat Ibiza, Vauxhall Adam (best of all it's not a corsa) BMW 116d, Ford Fiesta ST, avoid jap cars, neither cool nor sporty, but reliable. The older Suzuki swift is an exception but avoid the latest one or 5 door as too mumsy, left field choice would be latest Renault Twingo, rear engined rwd, and a bit different. |

I dunno, what is the car equivalent of a Fireblade? (I can tell without pics of the gf that whatever it is, that's what she needs ) ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

New Ibiza is nice
VW have just brought out the UP 'GTI'
Renault Twingo Turbo!
Kia RIO / Hyundai i10 - 5 year warranty. But zero cool about them.
What about one of those Citroen C3 Aircross things?
edit:Stevo
Suzuki has a new Swift out ... which means you might get a steal on a runout 1.6 Sport. One of the last great small NA cars. ____________________ Module 1 and 2 passed - October 2014. Happy owner of a 2017 Z1000SX, ex owner of a YBR125 / CB500 / VFR800. |

Twingo is a good one, but the only good one is the cup chassis, which has no air con and fuck is it hard to drive over time as the solid suspension is an issue
Could just buy a Supra. |

Sorry, couldn't help myself! I blame BBC News since I've just read the following news item before seeing this thread...
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-41969001 ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
(7 year gap), BMW F650 (Relaxing ride). Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 (Big and bold). Yamaha FZS600 (got me in trouble too quick!).
Current: Yamaha TDM 900 (Comfy, light but big, power when needed). |

As this is the internet I feel it is my responsibility to recommend whatever I currently own regardless of what specifications you have laid out.
So yeah, I recommend the cars that I have
But In reality, what are you classifying as small?
The Toyota Aygo or Citreon/Pugeot Variant?
The VW Up! or Skoda/Seat variant?
Or are we talking about Fiesta Size cars? |

I wish manufacturers would keep the cars of the same name, the same size. Nowadays they seem to get bigger and a smaller model is squeezed in below. Renault Clio was a little car, its grown, So has the Fiesta. Corsa from Vauxhall. Even the Fiat 500 has big Fiat 500 brothers and sisters. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

if you're possibly thinking of a new one then I'd recommend checking www.carwow.co.uk out.
Even if the best offer you get isn't that local to you, you can often go down to your local dealer with a copy of it and they'll match it.
Can save quite a bit depending on the car. ____________________ CBR954RR - Daily toy
