MCE insurance good / bad / avoid ??

my ins is due up in 3 weeks
have had two policy's with bennetts last year so have 2 years NCB
one on a 125 before I passed my test then 1 on my RR after I passed

Bennetts web page is quoting me a renewal for £682.86 on payments or £606.44 one off payment for full comp with a 250 voluntary excess
up on my last policy at £510 with 10 x £51 installments

Go compare says MCE is far better at £157

the best insurance is the policy you dont have to claim on.
in my own experience its a lottery and you spin the wheel and take a chance.
people will say company x is great/shit.
all you can do is go with whoever offers something that looks like what you want,you will only find out how bad they are when its all gone wrong.

I was with them for years as they were the cheapest and for a while did 15 months for the price of 12.

Don't change bikes half way through your policy, it costs an arm.

Other than that, no problems with them.

However I never put in a claim with them so I have no idea how good/bad they are when you want money.

Interesting. MCE have mixed reviews. I've not heard good things regarding paying out after thefts.
However, the trade off is excess versus premium. Have you done compare sites with 0 voluntary excess as standard and a realistic value? Also a sensible mileage guess is good.

I'm with MCE and although haven't claimed anything
They were very good admin side weren't the cheapest but nor the expensivist
So far no problems only time will tell probably at renewal time

Personally, with those figures I'd go MCE.

If you claim and incur your excess, you've paid out £850 with Bennetts, compared to £807 with MCE (assuming you pay Bennetts in one go)

If you don't claim, you've got £450 in your pocket rather than theirs.

I was hit by a driver running a red light on my S1000XR on 13 March 2016. Driver failed to stop. That was on a Sunday and I reported it to MCE that day and in more detail the next day. Bike did not go down and I was not injured. However the front wheel was smashed round so badly the bike was not rideable.

Next thing I heard from MCE, despite my chasing, was 22 April when they told me the bike would be collected for inspection. That didn't happen till early May and eventually I got the bike back in early September.

Nobody cared. Nobody called back when they said they would. I only got the bike back when I did after I contacted the chief exec. Customer service at MCE does not exist. They have no concern for individual circumstances and no-one will ever "own" a problem.

That said, I did get the bike back fully repaired. I saved a little bit of money by complaining to the ombudsman who awarded me a few hundred ponds in compo.

I decided that, to me, the hassle I went through with MCE was not worth the lower premium. I personally will never use them again but, as others have said, it's your decision.

I'm beginning to think this is some kind of mythical magical number to MCE.

My NC750 is insured with them for...yup £157.83.

I'm currently looking for a new trail bike to replace the DT125, every single quote I run through, no matter what bike or cc comes out at...

MCE and their Big Ed spammed BCF which is truly unforgivable but apart from that if they're the cheapest then I'd go with them.

You'll hear stories from unsatisfied customers about all brokers and I'd be willing to bet that in most of those we're not told all the details.

I mean, what Speedy2007 says sounds like he's unhappy with whichever claims management company they passed his details to.
