Did no one go to the bike show at the NEC this weekend?
It was bloody crowded considering I was there on my own Thinking .

£25 to get in and £12 to park Shocked Evil or Very Mad
I can’t sat that I was massively impressed because I wasn’t.

I didn’t get any pictures as I didn’t know it was on until I got to Birmingham and my phone was not charged .
The best stand for me was the Brough Superior stand Drooling .
It was interesting to see Chinese bikes being represented on stands, is this the future?
Kawasaki had a modern take on the Z900 which looked nice.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Friend of mine took his two rat bikes that were on show at the BSH stand. But I've been too unwell to go this year, then again I've never been anyway.

Haven't been for years. Used to be OK pre-internet when you could pick up decent deals on gear which would make up for overpriced burgers, but it has no attraction at that price.

Still waiting for my offspring to let me know if they want to go...I'm not too fussed either way but if I do go I'm interested in the nikken(sp?) trike, the v4 duke, goldwing and Africa twin.
It's where I found out an 848 fitted me but a R6 didn't.
The MX shows were good.

Free undercover parking for bikes and they haven't had the police scrutineering for a few years.

Imo it's held at the wrong time of year. How many bikers want to ride any great distance in freezing temperatures? I ride all year round but, I'll be fooked if I'd do a 200 mile round trip in the middle of November. Hand

^^^If it were any sooner they wouldn't have many new bikes to show off. The journos will now be praying they can do their reviews in Spain and not on salty British roads.
But yeah, always a chilly ride to the NEC in Nov.

Yeah, had a wander round there yesterday, not as good as last year I didn't think though...

Had a few mates that went, but the whole commercial vibe to it isn't my thing.

I heard it described as Glastonbury for bikes... Overpriced, shit weather and full of well-heeled people wanting to know what to buy to appear fashionable next "motorcycling season".

Do like those Rats though.

Last time I went was in '04, as pillion on an SV650. In the pissing down rain.

Laughing Crying or Very sad

Always next year. Maybe.

Do they still do the test ride things? They had a short supermoto type circuit set up in '04, with some guy blatting a KTM round, making all the wannabe's look very amateur Laughing

Went year before last and they had an outdoor track setup by kawasaki and Get-On were offering rides to newbies.

As far as I know the car parking prices are set by the greedy greedy NEC corp. Imagine how much wonga that place charges to have a stall there.

i went today.
it felt like a rip off at the money.
lots of bikes to sit on and look at.
cb1000 looks nice in the flesh, they will need to add some toys and price it just right or they wont sell any.
the h2 tourer is an odd fish.
tuono factory is the bike to have(if you are brave with dealers etc.)
the RnineT racer was the least comfy bike of the show, and that just to sit on!it must be terrible to ride in the real world.(looks nice though)

tldr; rip off

Went yesterday..as others have said £37 with parking...

Very busy and very similar to last year. Keep saying it but I won't be going again. Unless you're in the market for a new bike and are unsure what to go for, it seems an expensive day out just to sit on a few bikes.

Harley stand was good....Suzukis was an embarrassment.

I'm going next weekend, I asked Mrs grr to pre book my tickets a fortnight ago while I was away in Stoke.
I returned home last night to find that she had left it until yesterday afternoon to attempt the pre purchase of
tickets for a show that was now already running. I've just spent the last two weeks working my cock off and all she
had to do was look after the dog and book uo my bike show tickets. Dogs looking a bit thin as well.... Rolling Eyes Looking
forward to my next opportunity to fail my wife miserably to even the score up a little. I've just spent the last two weeks
sleeping on a bloody camp bed with no internet access, eating garbage food and working whilever I was awake and
all she had to do was... Sigh... At least the dog missed me.

So, am I getting this right. People are basically paying good money so that motorcycle manufacturers can promote stuff they want you to buy. Isn't that a bit like tesco charging you a tenner for entering their store? Thinking

Yeah, but you don't tend to be offered a sit on your butternut squash before you mention that you'd never be able to afford it.

Hardly new, happens in many industries ..

Cars :- the various motorshows around the world
Aircraft :- 'airshows' such as Paris, Dubai, Moscow, Singapore Farnborough, are predominently trade shows.
Trains :- Events such as InnoTrans
.... and so on

These shows aren't run for the benefit of the paying public, if that happens, that's a happy side effect, they are run purely on commercial terms with the aim, to make money for both the exhibitors and the organisation hosting the event.

If you've been before you know what to expect, so, can't really complain when on subsequent visits, it's essentially the same, and if you didn't like it last time, you're highly unlikely to like it this time.

Enjoy it for what it is, essentially a way for manufactures promote their products, in a way, they hope, that will entice a suitable number of visitors, and turn a percentage of those visitors into future customers.

Wow.
If I wanted to go, it would be my responsibility to get a ticket. Lucky for me, it sounds shit.
