Hey all, first post in a while! About 3 years since I was forced to sell all my toys and start again from nothing (Divorces huh!)

So my Mrs surprised me last week by buying me a bike, and so I have dug my old gear out the shed....

3 years in a damp shed packed in a cardboard box.... you can imagine what it looks like! There's no holes or damage etc but my textiles in particular are looking and smelling rather shitty!

Is it even worth trying to clean them up at home or am I better off going to a specialist? Would a standard dry cleaners be any good?

Leathers I reckon I can clean up Ok, but my summer 1 piece isn't ideal for commuting in at this time of year 😂

Thanks in advance!

Read the care label. Should have instructions on how to wash them.

I have used Nikwax Products with Great success.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikwax-Tech-Wash-Direct-Wash/dp/B001RE3FLO

Turned my Black Jacket back to dark blue.

You wash it once with the Tech Wash and the once with the water proofer.

I did textiles and gloves. I either washed it cold or at 30 degrees I can't remember.

I tried to get a leather jacket dry cleaned once. The bloke said it was £60!

In the end I think I used Fabreeze. Laughing

New Mrs. Well, been with her since the divorce more or less.
This one's a winner 😁

Have taken the plunge and thrown the jacket in the wash, come out better than I expected to be fair. Going to order some nikwax stuff to waterproof it again but hoping these textiles are saveable!

Will do the leathers as and when, I'll not be using them for a while yet 😂

Take the protective padding out and hand wash them, not once have I had a problem with post wash waterproof-ness of the gear.

Be prepared for plenty of black water, mind.

I take out the liners and foam ‘armour’ and chuck them in the washer. Liners get washed separately.
