No it isn't. If I put in the maximum I'm prepared to pay at my initial bid then it makes no difference at all.
A problem only occurs if you try to go back and add more to your bid, piecemeal. If you're going to add more, make it a decent amount.
If 2 bids are the same, the one placed first will win. So if I set my max to £40 and it's at £35 and DrDonnyBrago bids £40 with 2 seconds ot go, I'm still going to win. If he bids £42 then I don't but it was more than I was going to pay anyway. |
Wrong.
You bid £100 early, your maximum.
I want to buy it. I bid £90. I lose, I bid £100, I lose, I bid £101, I win.
If you put your bid in last second, I'd have bidded £90, you'd have won it for <£100 and I wouldn't have had chance to bid incrementally to just above your maximum. You also don't drive the price up early with other retards if you keep out of it until the end.
FYI I always bid with random pennies on the end, it's unlikely you and I would bid the same amount.
You are more likely to win and win for less if you bid last second.
Because I use eBay on my phone. |

Also, bid way too early and you're sitting there "winning" the item that could be bumped up at the last moment. Meanwhile someone else lists the same or similar item you'll be happier with, with a Buy It Now price less than current bid of the auction you're bidding on.
Those who haven't bid yet can jump on it whilst you're sitting there hoping to be outbid and that the other item hasn't gone yet. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.
