Many people apparently do but I've yet to try it. My visor is due for replacement anyway so think I'll give it a go.

I use the muc off visor cleaner followed by nikwax visor spray. Got a cloth and muc off spray for Xmas a few years ago and it's still got plenty left

Read about it somewhere years ago and gave it a try. Been doing it ever since.

Makes your lid smell like a gentleman's club too, which is nice.

What, you haven't got a rain pal, you are a bad person, go and stand on the naughty step! Wink

OT, any spray furniture polish, never had a problem for the last three decades!

I have one of those little spray bottles that originally held some branded visor cleaner. When that ran out, I just started filling it with water with a small drop of washing up liquid, and keep a clean jiffy cloth with it. Seems to be adequate.

The two may not be related though. I found my old visor went "cloudy" after a couple of years regardless of only wiping with a damp cloth.

I have a theory about this Smile

It's why I use washing up liquid, which is a degreasant. I have found a visor smears from, what, exhaust deposits/oil deposits? i suspect if not cleaned off properly once in a while, it possibly affects the visor surface more permanently? I've had the same visors for years now, and they're still quite clear.

you know that soap you get in a bottle with a pump dispenser on the top, liquid soap?

smear it all over your visor inside and out, and then start washing it off building up a lather, keep running it under the tap until all the soap is off, then dry it with microfiber cloth

and there it is, my gift to you all, having sat for hours in Arai and Shoei technical training sessions

I use a generic spray of some kind of plastic cleaner each evening when I get back in, quick squirt and clean with a microfibre cloth - ready for the morning.

Whilst out - I use my prototype visor sprayer 😀 it’s mint. (If I do say so myself).

do a test area on the far edge out the way first, cos microfiber cloths mess some visors up,

wrecked an Aldi/Lidl one that way once.

+1

We were told during CBT to NOT use Mr Sheene, because it can cause the visor to become brittle and actually shatter when hit by a small stone.

So, I thought, lets try it. That was 2011. I've hit stones and other things, visor in tact.

However, I disagree that it causes water to run off. I'm not sure it does the reverse. While it feels slippy to touch, I think rain actually sticks to it and only runs off once a certain mass is achieved.

Where it wins, is it makes cleaning a doddle. And who doesn't love a shiny, polished helmet.

EDIT:
I use warm water to clean everything first (using my hand, no clothe).
Then Mr Sheene + Microfibre to polish/shine.

Rainpal and Rainpal XHD for the heavy stuff. Smile

If my Rainpal is finished (Re-order in the mail) then I use Fairy or this stuff I got to clean windows with a squeegee that doesn't leave streaks. (Fuckedifahknow what it is called).

Dilute isopropyl alcohol and a microfibre cloth would be ideal.

What I actually do is wait until it rains then wipe it with a finger.

Rain-X is mostly alcohol, plus some secret sauce and/or snake oil. It works for both cleaning and rain-B-gone. Oh noes, brittlings, but I've yet to have it destroy a visor before it's been scratched and scuffed to buggery anyway.
