I object! Clio's are damn good cars! Mind you, I'd like to know how they got passed the immobiliser, hard enough to start when you have the key-fob.

Sounds like they think he diddu it. That's uncharacteristic. Although they've lost their braiv littul soljers, so some leeway is to be allowed.

"[The scrote] was warned to expect a lengthy sentence."

I think their definition of lengthy is quite different to the majority of ours.

Never mind, at least his driving ban will probably run concurrently with his sentence. That'll teach him. Rolling Eyes

Quote:
The maximum prison sentence the court can impose for causing death by dangerous driving or careless
driving under the influence of drink or drugs is 14 years;

Clapping Clapping Clapping

Wait just a cotton picking minute though:

Quote:
for causing death by driving whilst unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured it is two years. The
maximum sentence is reserved for rare cases where blame is exceptionally high.

Oh.

Quote:
For some offences of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving or causing death by driving whilst
unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured where the offender is not considered to pose a danger of re-offending and
the level of fault is low, a community sentence may be deemed a more effective form of punishment and
rehabilitation than imprisonment.

Anyone running a book?

Quote:
If the offender pleads guilty the sentence will be reduced by up to one third depending on how early the
plea was made.

Rolling Eyes

Quote:
All sentences will include a minimum period of disqualification from driving followed by:
 a compulsory extended re-test for causing death by dangerous driving or careless driving while under the
influence of drink or drugs; or
 a discretionary re-test for causing death by careless driving or while unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured.
The disqualification period runs from the sentencing, or enforcement if earlier (not from when an offender is
released from prison).

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Righto then.

Quote:
WHAT DOES THE SENTENCE ACTUALLY MEAN?
If the offender is sent to prison the law states that they will serve half their sentence in prison and half on licence
in the community. During the licence period they are subject to recall to prison if they commit any further offences
or breach any conditions that may be set.
If the offender is sentenced to a community sentence the exact details of the order will vary from case to case but
it is likely to include supervision and unpaid work.

Tl;Dr be out in 5. Rolling Eyes

Oh.

So does that mean anyone legal to drive causing death by dangerous can expect up to 7 times the sentence of an illegal driver causing death by dangerous? Shocked

Probably only if it's not 'dangerous'. Laughing

"But occifer, if you ignore the fact I'm only 12 and can't reach the pedals, and killed 3 people, I was dead safe, honest".

Quite insightful link -> https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/item/causing-death-by-driving-unlicensed-disqualified-or-uninsured-drivers/

Such lols to be had under the 'more than usually serious degree of harm'.

- Offence is committed against those working in the public sector or providing a service to the public

Laughing

Emergency services, maybe. Dozy Debbie who happened to be caught in the crossfire whilst on her way home from declining planning applications? Confused
