Funny that people mention google maps gives instructions late... I found that Waze was often late... like 10 meters past the turning late before it would tell me to take a turning...

Google Maps on the other hand has been rather good giving instructions in a timely manor

except that google maps often don't know left from right..

When in the road I want and aiming for the number of the house 200
yards on your left... it's often on the right...

Google Maps has also sent me in circles and I will not even tell you
what happened in Essex.....

However on the bright side google maps finds what I can't find in the A-Z App.

So from where can you download the software and how is it installed?

One of the Appstores. Installation is fairly automated.

I have Sygic on my phone and it's pretty good IMO. Smile

I've got a tomtom rider 410 and it's really good. It works in heavy rain reliably, touch seems to work in heavy gloves regardless of how wet it is. Traffic and roadworks reporting is good. Works great in the car too and comes with car and bike mounts. I'd never leave it "locked" to the bike though. Speed camera database and average speed limit calculator is good when it works but doesn't always get temporary installations. Windy roads mode could be better as it doesn't seem that good at avoiding urban areas, but used with some planing and setting of waypoints it's not too hard to plan a nice flowing backroad blast.

My experience of the 410 was a little different - I found the screen was activated by rain meaning that it often did things by itself when raining. The screen suffered with internal condensation and the bluetooth was unusable. All known issues sadly. It was also extremely slow in comparison to a modern smartphone.

I went back to using Waze which has far better and more accurate alerts, particularly for police vehicles!

I use a m8 handlebar clamp bolt replacement and tough case by Ultimateaddons for my ktm 1290, it powers from the battery so phone is always charged when i come off the bike.

I never really got on with waze, the one feature i did like was the spotify integration icon which made it easier to switch between both as i listen to music when riding.

Oh right, you mean actual dedicated satnav units? I thought you meant a Windows phone Laughing

AFAIK you download the updates on another device and upload via USB. I've never actually owned a dedicated device though so I may be wrong...
