It doesn't seem likely a parking free for all will follow
They might have to find more men who shout "Oi" and install barriers.

"Fine fine fine fine fine fine fine fine". Mad

The current DPA get-out is for preventing/detecting crime. Totes trespass, innit, even when they are making claims for breach of contract rather than damages claims for trespass.

It is a bleedin' liberty and a few folk have successfully rinsed compo from parking ghouls for unlawfully obtaining their info. However the problem is at source, that DVLA are selling it. Until it costs them more to do so than they're raking in, theyr'e not going to stop, regardless of what the law may say.

You could try withdrawing consent. You could try that now.

Don't I have to have given consent first? Must have missed that check box when I was opting out of their organ
harvesting scheme. Consent suggests there is an alternative choice?

In Scotland there isn't even that excuse what with there being no criminal offense of trespass.

The CAA are worse. They maintain an online register with aircraft owners names and addresses and lots of other information available to be searched for free by anyone. That always annoyed me too.

Is still extant. The argument would be whether leaving your car there constitutes "occupying" that land, and possibly on whether there's a prohibitive sign rather than an offer to park.

Wandering a bit off topic, the Scotch courts are happy to enforce contractual charges:

But of course if it's contractual then there's no crime which justifies selling your details.
