I'm thinking about fitting lights to my top box. It's a Givi V46, I know they do a brake light kit, but it's not that I'm after. I'm thinking something like this:

I'm thinking coloured LED strips, anyone got any recommendations?
What sort of connector can I use, needs to be waterproof and easy to plug and unplug?
Something like a trailer socket would be good, but much smaller.
Needs to have 5 pins (earth, tail, brake, left, right). |

Just realised you had linked to them above your photos. I was too busy staring at the pretty pictures to notice! |

1. Started things off easy with a couple of resistors & a diode on to some board. Added some tails to either end, then heat shrunk it all over.

2. Spliced into the rear cluster, soldered & heat shrinked (no picture)
3. Time to start cutting, soldering & sealing with a glue gun on all the strips.

4. Testing each one as i go.

5. All done, heatshrinked the ends & ready to go.
https://cdn.img.versys.co.uk/IMG_7581.jpg
6. One side on.
https://cdn.img.versys.co.uk/IMG_7582.jpg
7. Second side done, wires wrapped, holes drilled & threaded through.
https://cdn.img.versys.co.uk/IMG_7583.jpg
8. Internal wires twisted, soldered and screwed into a temporary block for now until i decided how to finish it off as neat as possible.

9. Neutrik XLR connecter wire up on to the tail, with a chassis mount connector mounted to the base of the top box via rivets & sealant. Means its a quick plug & play when taking the box on & off.

10. And we're all done.

Still to do......
One of the rows is out on the LHS, not sure when it happened because i tested each strip at every stage, will investigate further when i finish off the inside to a happy standard. |
