I know exactly what you are talking about as i have seen these in the past, but alas my Google-Fu is lacking too
Is the car drivable, if so, do you have any of those ramp rental places round your way, there used to be a couple local to me in Sheffield where you basically pay for ramp time by the hour, with additional charge if you used the "garage's" tools............. don't know if they still exist or not, as that was a few years back now
EDIT:
Ahh, good ol' eBay, is this the sort of thing you mean

I know exactly what you mean, like car dealerships often have to put a car up on display where you put the front legs of the ramp down, drive onto it carefully until it tilts level and then lock back legs down to stop it tipping.
Best thing to do would be get hold of a classic car magazine, they're full of adverts for this kind of kit!
Machine mart being one of the main advertisers of tools and equiptment ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

I need something long term as it might be a bit of a long welding project. The Ebay thing would be no use for me, it's too big to store, not enough load capacity and doesn't rest the car on the wheels. I need to get to the sills.
The thing described to me was 2 long separate ramps which could be slid down the side of the garage, when not in use.
The idea in the post above this about the dealer display ramps, sounds in the right direction. Cheers.
Edit - something like this I suppose, but cheaper would do.

I'd seen the Benpack portable lift on an American TV show, I googled it and then realised it lifted from the sills, however I found this via google, as you can weld I'm sure you could fabricate similar, won't take up too much storage when not is use, either.

Edit: could even add rollers where tyres rest, allowing you to spin a wheel if needed, I dare say they could be placed under sills too if needing wheels off. |

High lift jacks and axle stands not capable of doing the job?
Virtually no storage issues and leaves you wheel free, if necessary.
Stands can go wherever you want, chassis rails, suspension mounts, anywhere that's level and tough enough to take the weight of the car. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

I have ramps which need the extension ramp to get up on to. My stands are also reasonably high.
The problem is that the car is low as standard, with the M Sport suspension, so when up on ramps, you can't get a Mig torch under the sills, with the cable and pipe under the torch.
The car needs to be at least a foot off the ground, maybe more. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Bit steep though. I'm hoping to find something nearer to £200 which would get all 4 wheels off the ground.

£478 for 1 pair of ramps
surely £478 is enough to buy another ancient beemer off ebay which doesn't need welding ____________________ "The guy is a worthless cunt and I honestly believe I would be a slightly happier person if he died." - Chris-Red |
