I know exactly what you are talking about as i have seen these in the past, but alas my Google-Fu is lacking too

Is the car drivable, if so, do you have any of those ramp rental places round your way, there used to be a couple local to me in Sheffield where you basically pay for ramp time by the hour, with additional charge if you used the "garage's" tools............. don't know if they still exist or not, as that was a few years back now

EDIT:

Ahh, good ol' eBay, is this the sort of thing you mean

I know exactly what you mean, like car dealerships often have to put a car up on display where you put the front legs of the ramp down, drive onto it carefully until it tilts level and then lock back legs down to stop it tipping.

Best thing to do would be get hold of a classic car magazine, they're full of adverts for this kind of kit!

Machine mart being one of the main advertisers of tools and equiptment

I'd seen the Benpack portable lift on an American TV show, I googled it and then realised it lifted from the sills, however I found this via google, as you can weld I'm sure you could fabricate similar, won't take up too much storage when not is use, either.

Edit: could even add rollers where tyres rest, allowing you to spin a wheel if needed, I dare say they could be placed under sills too if needing wheels off.

High lift jacks and axle stands not capable of doing the job?

Virtually no storage issues and leaves you wheel free, if necessary.

Stands can go wherever you want, chassis rails, suspension mounts, anywhere that's level and tough enough to take the weight of the car.

Not really what the OP is after, but I'm going to into buying a set of those hydraulic pump up car ramps in the new year. I've got a set of low entry ramps and Jack/axle stands, but my drive isn't quite flat annoyingly. I think if I can raise and lower the whole car onto a set of stands at once, it will sit securely on the drive and let me rip off the old brakes and suspension.

All waiting on me finishing messing with one of my KMX's and hoping it don't blow up on the dyno putting me back to square one. Busy 2018!

cant you jack it up and stick the wheels on concrete blocks, add and subtract blocks for required height,
cheap and easy to store as they take up little room,
Not the poshest(if that is a word), but works and less likely to be stolen,

In the past 2 wheels on the kerb, and jack/axle stands the other side have given more than enough room to weld, so this is just the same, but on your drive.

Bit steep though. I'm hoping to find something nearer to £200 which would get all 4 wheels off the ground.

4 X £478 is Full on Garage 2 post lift money.

£478 for 1 pair of ramps

surely £478 is enough to buy another ancient beemer off ebay which doesn't need welding

Fuck me, there's alot of smart arse bitch moaning like fucking clawing women. Can't help it I guess/BCF normal off topic response.

I don't know OP and if his beamer is a nice old classic, a modernish one that's been badly damaged or repaired in the past, or just a POS. But all he wants is to know which ramp solution would be best and where to get it from?

I asked similar question a year or so ago, about jacking up and placing a car on stands to work on it, but with a sloping drive. I just wanted specifics on how and if you can safely raise a car on a not quite 100% level surface. Think I was told to scrap car or burn it to keep warm, as Rover's are best used for coke cans or heating or some old bollocks.
