there are bike owners ... a hayabusa ... who do very limited millage 500 pa. or so .. more to do with havin a small collection and the ridin position of a hyper sports machine... so that in itself would not raise any worries ... but the day time mot. that is some thing different ... Question

That would be a wise decision, take a torch at the least so you can see behind the fairings etc.

Cant believe how these bikes are holding their value.

Years ago I sold my k4 750 for £3k. Jesus.

Anyway, previous to the 750 I had a k4 600 and it was an absolute hoot. Such a fun bike that can be thrashed & the induction noise from a GSXR is something that you just dont get on another bike. Probably why I keep going back to them...

Front brake master cylinder is absolute garbage though. Do a search - I think there was a recall on them? Certainly be worth a check anyway.

Mine had the same scratch on the engine casing - I bought the bike from a friend knowing it had been down the road so yours shows signs of this.

I'd be getting the dealer to pull the fairings off TBH to see whats hidden behind. Just a note, not all ex-track bikes are bad bikes... in fact my R1 has an oil/filter change & check over about every 200 miles because of track use!

Probably to do with newer bikes costing more as well

No no no no no no no.

Whatever you see when having another look at it won't answer any of the questions raised in this thread.

You'll be giving the salesman a chance to convince you that despite him not having answers for any of the questions, everything's alright really because it'll have a fresh MOT and comes with a warranty.

Get your deposit back from them and then find another Gixxer to buy.

Agree with ste. It isn't a rare bike. Find one that isn't suspect.

Kawasaki ZX6R G model. It even has Helmholtz resonators on the air intake.

Bearing in mind their duty to not omit material information, such as it being a binned track bike.

If you like a tyre, you keep using it. They'd be very cheap compared to others too.

If you're going to swap out the fairings, you could swap the wheels and tyres too, just to complete the low mileage illusion at sale time.

I dunno, does look very clean, but you can't scuff that engine case without fucking the fairing, plus the daylight MOT would add up to alarm bells for me.

You need to ask some very searching questions and know what the right answers are.

Not if they were removed and safely stored with the OEM fairings.

The fact it's been used as a track bike isn't so much the problem as the fact there's questions about the years with no MOT and the years with daylight only MOTs.

Too many questions and no shortage of other Gixxers to choose from. Thumbs Up

If it was an RG500, RD500 etc.. something rare, weird, otherwise expensive, you could look at dealing with whatever happened in the future, because it's cheaper than the rest. It's a GSXR. They are not rare. Get your deposit back, Save up a bit more, go buy a really nice one.

If they're not declaring it's been a track bike, it's like the hot, but easy girl you went to school with - Everyones had a go and ragged her. Not sure how you're buying it, but be aware that dealers can be lying scum in the same way as private sellers, just have a search on here, you'll find plenty of anecdotes.

I wanted a exciting bike have i made the right choice?

The bike is not the issue here
Where BCF has failed (yet again) is to point out with nauseating and relentless pedantry is
It should be an exciting bike.

You people.........

Sounds like a wise move. Did you get into a discussion with the owner about the reason?

I reckon that's the right decision. You'd always have been wondering what other lies you hadn't exposed.

Nice choice of bike! Couldn't be happier about buying mine.

Does sound like it has been on track from the spotless fairings at that age. But to be honest how much harder can it be ridden on track than a lot of people ride on the road. On the road there will be considerably more wear on parts like the suspension. I know people that have ridden track bikes back on the road for years. And chances are it will have been looked after if someone has been riding it on track as they probably had more time to spend on it than they would have if it had been a commuters bike.

Enjoy your new bike!

It's all a bit of an irrelevance, but; it's perhaps not about the fact that it's been treated ok (except for having been bounced down the main straight of course) so much as it's about the fact it's been sold as an immaculate low mileage bike, which in reality it's very unlikely to be.
