Here's my story from the summer.
I rode to the far north of Russia and back with my dad!

Here's what happened.

Wow.

What an epic trip, and a great write up too. I've done a few extended trips with my old man. There is really nothing better.

I've promised myself a proper 4 week 'expedition' at some point, but sadly, I think dads Arthritis is going to prevent him tagging along.

Thanks for sharing. Thumbs Up

That was a wild ride and a great read! If you ever go back to Russia, try the south of the country, Saratov, Volgograd, all the way to Astrakhan... it's a completely different view of the country.

Finally got around to reading this!
Excellent account, and always interesting to read about tours that go to more off-the-beaten-track places than most of us manage.

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment about taking rest days, and tours being holidays. Gives you a chance to explore an area in more detail, get a proper feel for a place, and as you mention, to meet interesting folk, as well as avoiding the whole thing becoming an exhausting endurance test.

Heartening the way so many people, complete strangers, offer help when things get difficult.

Where next?
