I have been offered one for £40. My Xbox one controller has an iffy left stick so I need a replacement. I can buy a wireless pad for £30 so my question is; is the elite pad worth the extra tenner? as far as I can tell, it just feels heavier, has levers you can attach to the back and has different thumb controllers you can switch out?

£40 yes/no?

I had a really quick go on one a while back. Looked cool but didn't seem initially to offer much extra compared to a standard jobby for a normal casual gamer like me.

My friend who owns it has particularly big hands so it made sense for him to be able to tweak it more to suit.

The elite controllers are meant to have a high failure rate. I've not used one so I can't say if they're better than sex or not. Have you tried taking apart/cleaning your controller? Did this to my PS3 pad when it got 'sticky'.

It depends on you and what games you play, for shooters being able to reload, jump and switch weapons whilst still being able to continuously aim (don't have to take thumb off stick) has become so invaluable that it's now difficult to play on a standard controller as play style has completely adjusted.

It has adjustable sticks and also trigger locks are useful.

For a casual gamer wanting to buy a new elite controller I'd probably say no, but for that price, why not.

I'd pick it up for that price. Aren't they about £120 brand new? If it sucks / doesn't add anything, sell it on closer to £70, and that way you aren't out of pocket.

I use it, 2 paddles and a Cronus to amend the input. Cannot go back to peasant pads.

Bought it, got it for £30 because he has no money and I wanted a bargain. It comes in a little hard case as well. Seems OK for the money, it might be a bargain if it works OK. Sold as seen even though off of a mate.

I like mine, I just wish the buttons could be customised like the steam controller then it will be really good.

Yes it feels sturdy and a lot more robust than the standard controller. I think it was £30 well spent. Personally it feels more contoured in the hand and the trigger adapters on the back are slick.

Had a wired 360 controller for about 8 years for the PC.

Recently decided to upgrade after the right D pad started sticking.

Got myself an Xbox One Wireless controller + dongle for Windows 10. Every time I turned it on, the dongle forgot the controller and had to faff about doing the pairing and plugging/un-plugging it in.

The last time I did it, it would not pick up the controller at all. I sent it back after 10 days.

Just had a Wireless 360 controller delivered about an hour ago.

My pal has that Razer Xbox one.. costs about £160 or something and as far as I can tell, it's just a wired XB1 controller that costs £160 for no reason.

I like the weight of the elite controller.
The rubber grip is good too.
Found it a little weird with the paddles on the back so took off the longer ones initially. I do use one of them now though. (so 3 paddles on the back).

We bought some replacement paddles on Aliexpress. If you use the shorter ones on the opposite sides, upside down sort of thing, you can have 2 sets of short paddles (did that make sense? I knew what I meant) Smile

We paid £220 for 2 elite controllers with games (Argos). £40 sounds like a bargain, as long as the controller is a good one, not faulty.

If you have the dead zone too low it can cause a weird drift issue.

Customisation is good. Not having to press down on those sticks to run or whatever, just need to press a back paddle, helps loads.

Argos had a few £100 with a new release game offers on recently.

I believe the 360 controllers needed a dongle and the Xbox One controllers work over bluetooth on Windows 10.

Are the analog sticks any better on the elite pad? I wish they'd come out with a slightly bigger controller, the Original Xbox controller (S) was my favourite all time pad (I still use it on PC).

love it, your mate is hard up for cash so you take full advantage of that situation by getting him to knock off another 25% Razz with friends like these...

He'd do the same for me.

Don't have a tin of custard so spaghetti will have to do.

If you end up selling for 40, holla Laughing

I cut down the paddles at the back because they are too big and my configuration means jump+reload buttons on the back, pressing those at the wrong point means death and I'll ruin our teams chances of being pvp killas.

I can do the remapping with the app, it's just I would like to map the buttons at the back to non-controller keys giving four extra buttons, instead of just XYAB.

Yep. All good, does not improve my kill/death ratio but it's a nice pad. All buttons click smoothly and for £30 it's slick.

That would be good, or the buttons just become 17, 18, 19, 20.
If the steam controller had a stick instead of the pad, I may have never got the Xbox elite controller.

Think it has 20 customisable standard buttons or 38 with an alt button press. It's great except for the pad.
