It's a pretty spacktarded ploy then, since they're creating a duty of care when none existed, and making themselves liable by declaring that (e.g.) fashion jeans are suitable PPE.
Time until they mandate full CE gear for tests, and start looking down candidates' underpants? I mean, now they can say "You must wear motorcycle specific clothing, and all motorcycle specific clothing must be CE, therefore..." ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Why were they talking in the future tense about something that should have happened 6 weeks ago?
Oh, I ratted J&S out to both the ASA and the local Trading Standards for the lulz bikey bruvs' safety. Let's see if they send a sternly worded email in 6 to 9 months. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I guess that they, J&S, are either: (1) unaware, (2) not bothered or (3) allowed, by a law I cannot find, to sell their current stock and await until the new garments, that have been CE approved by manufactures, are sent in. If that's the case, though, the old stock isn't discounted so they're in no rush.
For interests sake I've taken a photo of the labels that came with the gloves for people to look over (apologies for crap photo).
First paragraph (I'll let you read the rest): "RST motorcyclist gloves have been designed by the manufacture as Personal Protective Equipment and have been independently tested and evaluated to EN 13594-2015 - Protective gloves for motorcycle riders."

There's a 1 year grace period for items that were covered under the previous PPE diktats.
Trouble is, motorscooter gear was never covered under PPE regs.
It's OK, I've let Trading Standards know that, and they'll get right on it, any decade now. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Bear in mind that the EU thinks that water doesn't prevent dehydration.
Yes, it really does think that.
It took 3 years for paid Eurocrats Carlo Agostoni, Jean‐Louis Bresson, Susan Fairweather‐Tait, Albert Flynn, Ines Golly, Hannu Korhonen, Pagona Lagiou, Martinus Løvik, Rosangela Marchelli, Ambroise Martin, Bevan Moseley, Monika Neuhäuser‐Berthold, Hildegard Przyrembel, Seppo Salminen, Yolanda Sanz, Sean (J.J.) Strain, Stephan Strobel, Inge Tetens, Daniel Tomé, Hendrik van Loveren and Hans Verhagen to come to that conclusion, troughing expenses all the way.
So my conclusion is that the whole lot of them can take their CE labelling and shove them up up their dehydrated diktats. |
Catching up a bit. This is poorly reported Roger. Source: my wife did the required research to prove the claims that the water bods wanted to include in their advertising.
Key bit:
Quote: | “This claim is trying to imply that there is something special about bottled water which is not a reasonable claim.” |
It was quite complicated, but in essence there were misleading adverts made and they were stamped on. |
