A CRF450 does sound like fun though, are you getting into MX racing or will it be converted to SM spec for tarmac events?

Initially, I'll like an SM Bikes, maybe road legal. Something I can have a shot on at Brands and Lydden hill (both tracks under 30 mins from me)

Over the next few years, I'd probably convert it to MX, and then make the CRF50 back into a 50cc Semi Auto, on 10" MX wheels, as my boy will then be big enough to ride it with training wheels. Dance!

Nice clean mini CRF chassis mate!
Is this going to get a 50cc semi auto style engine in it for your lad to ride?
I kind of quite like the idea of and the parts upgradability of these pit bikes, as if your lad rides it and gets the bug, later when he's a teenager you could put a 125 or a 160cc race engine version in it to keep him interested long term.

Have you done anything with your 450 yet?

I'd love a good road going supermoto for next year, but don't want a really big one for the local back roads.

For the time being, it's on 10" slicks with a YX140 moto stuffed up it.
Once Austin is away with his balance bike, I'll swap the engine back over to the CRF88 Semi auto engine, fit the restrict-able throttle and training wheels. Smile

No news on the 450F yet. Just been approved a mortgage on the house we're currently renting, so I think the big SM will have to go on hold for a while. Mrs Binge will have my knackers on the chopping board if I turn up with a big old CRF. Laughing Laughing

The mini pit is chucked together, got a week to take it somewhere and test it before Lydd on the 15th.

I'm patient and I will wait for the CRF450 greatness as I feel something spectacular will emerge when permission is granted! Smile

Did an evening at Whilton last week. Had to make a few little changes.
Booked on for Rnd6 of the BMB this Sunday. Will be racing it at Whilton Mill. Smile[/list]

So, the bars on the bike are BMX bars, and the risers in their original bolt holes, were a little wide for the sweep on the mounting area on the bars.
As a temp measure, I had re-drilled the top yoke, and bolted some basic risers on, a tiny bit further forward, but about 30mm closer together so they mount nicely on the bars.

Issue is, they are bolted through 5mm ally, rather than the 20mm that was under the original riser holes.

So, I've had a guy I know, design some shit on CAD, and then fire up a wicked CNC machine to make me a cool top plate, so I can use my original 2-bolt risers, but move then forward a fair bit, and closer together.

Will make the bar position so much nicer, and being 12mm billet, it'll be strong as fuck.

Love the look of it now in red. Is the YX140 motor a fairly std build or a tuned engine?

Oh and do whatever it takes or however many crates of beer it takes to keep your CAD/CNC guy happy. I really need to find a CNC guy of my own to make all the silly bits I keep dreaming up for my KMX.

BCF needs it's own CNC machine shop and a friendly Martini welding wizard! Laughing

The moto is completely Bog Stock, I'm even running a £25 chinese exhaust, and a £24.00 Molkt carb. All off the shelf items, all left completely alone.

The bike starts first kick, and runs an absolute dream. Cool
Maybe a sniff down on peak power than some of the tweaked and well set up 140s in my class.

But yesterday went well. It was my first time out on the bike after changing the suspension around, and re-oiling the forks. I ran in both 140 and 160 stock classes. Each class had over 50 bikes on the grid. The grids can only be 30 bikes big so they split them into an A and a B group.

I qualified 25th in the A Group in the 160 class, and finished 25th. Other than the front 6 bikes, the rest of the grid was less than a second apart lap times. Mentally close racing.

I qualified 27th in the A group in the 140 class, and finished 18th I think.

The bike, is absolutely fucking awesome. Twitchy as fuck, the brakes are completely inadequate, and the suspension is practically non existent.
But im running Super-Soft PMT tyres, which grip for days. Tripod it round every corner with my knee firmly planted on the track, and just ride the slides of the back wheel. Laughing

Most fun ever. So glad I went back over to the 10" bike.

Gives you an idea of how small it actually is. I'm only 5'10 so I'm not exactly huge. Hah.
