Generally dianese is the worst bike brand you can buy, I wouldnt buy it if it again if it was 70% off, which would make the prices about normal.

Ive had over £900 of Dainese stuff as I did not know better with my first purchases.

There leathers might be ok, but generally they use weak zips that will fail much earlier than they should:

boots zip,
textile trousers bottom/ankle zip,
all 3 jacket pocket zips,
jacket main zip.
Trouser main zip was close to giving up so I sold them on ebay cheap whlie still mostly functional.

Their D-Dry textile outer layers will absorb more water than a bag of rice. If you hang your coat up on a wet day in someones house or at work, the puddle that collects underneath is embarrassing, bring a bucket with you. Bonded goretex items, which cost a lot more, may not have this issue.

I note that the Scout gloves are still available, and exactly the same as my old pair. Do not buy. No zips to fail but the water absorption is a joke.

They think wet pockets is perfectly acceptable.Only the inside of garment is waterproof. I will admit no problems with leaks, and nikiwax mostly cured the pockets, but this design decision probably saved only few pence of material.

Boots and leather gloves are the only items I would risk buying. I would say build quality and stitching is very good

My jacket has been superb. Warm in winter, cool in summer.

Shortie boots have been alright but seem to wearing at a fairly heavy rate.

I wouldn't write off a whole brand based on a few purchases in the same way I wouldn't kit myself out in a brand off the strength of a few. Each bit on its own merits.

I have to pipe up and say I've been a Dainese whore for quite a number of years. Been through two sets of most things and everything is still serviceable. Dainese goretex boots have been second to none, I went through a number of brands before these ones have done 20k miles without letting a drop of water in and comfortable enough to wear all day. I usually use the heavy duty 'adventure' type jackets with multiple liners for winter use and do agree that they are in no way waterproof at all. Quite the opposite in fact but I've always used lightweight waterproof over-gear with great success.

I have a couple of leather jackets from Dainese too but one thing I do find is that the 'Italian' style fit isn't very flattering if you've started putting a few pounds on every year when you're getting long in the tooth.

All in all, I'm happy to stay with Dainese and have found nothing to complain about with durability and I do a fair number of all weather miles.
