Great stuff! That previous little blip didn't set you back too much, did it?

Smile

I hope not, some of the people in my run club were saying that once they had managed to get 5km runs done it took them months before it felt natural. That made me feel a lot better about it!

hurt my back last Sunday, bent down, could hardly move, lay on floor and slowly and gently got up

much pain for a couple of days, but acute back pain is rarely serious, so I gently and carefully worked a few hours each day, and slowly upped the effort, pain subsided and stiffness set in, touching toes took effort, was back to normal by Friday night

my own fault for neglecting core and stretching, and at the end of a hard weekend fell asleep in an armchair

will make a point of stretching more after cycling now

Anyway, Deliveroo 20 miles last night, up and out early doors today, time trialled in cold wind, got my second ever fastest time, held back a bit cos worked tonight, went out and did another 25 Deliveroo miles tonight

some of the guys in my club are stupidly quick, sure they have really fancy pancy bikes, but if I rode their bike and they rode mine, I would be a bit quicker but they would still beat me by a country mile LOL

I ran a different Parkrun on Saturday so no attempt at a PB as I was touristing. However just as I was approaching the finishing gate I heard heavy breathing over my shoulder and there were two people trying to get past. I sprinted the last 20 metres and finished one second ahead of them both, haha!

Today, I managed more circuits and weights than I've done before in one day, with recently increased weight on some exercises, and NO back ache AT ALL Very Happy

Probably will feel very broken tomorrow Laughing

I did not know that the Runners Need shops do a free weekly run, I have just got back from doing it and really enjoyed myself! 4.1km round my local shopping centre and the nature trail by the lake next to it then back to the shop again. Actually we aimed for 15 minutes out and 15 minutes back.

If anyone has a Runners Need near them it might be worth checking out.

Also I am still wheezing after some runs so I went to my doctor who said it might be mild asthma. I now have an inhaler to see if that eases it and I have to check my peak flow readings three times a day. Hopefully that is my problem and I can make some progress.

Trained last night and spent the evening doing knife avoidance & defence (again)
Not a lot of cardio.
However I did end up sweating and puffing so there must of been a bit of cardio in there.
Got some sweet bruises today Shocked Laughing .

Been doing my 2 minute micro workout every day at home.
It seems to be working in a small way.

My instructor said that compared to how I was when I started, I’m a lot fitter than then Smile .
However I was really unfit when I started.

I don’t know how seriously you take your running or if you are competing?
Many inhalers are steroid based, is yours?
Would this affect any results or lead to disqualification as the result of a random drug test?
This may sound a bit silly, but I seem to remember athletes at the Olympics being disqualified for taking cough syrup?

Just a thought?

I DNS a time trial today.

I am gutted, fed up, pissed off and unmotivated. Simple admin error I missed the cut off to enter, my fault.

But I'm so deflated by it, I can't see past it.

I hammered my bike home and got some angry Strava top tens taking the rage out through the pedals, there was no sense of achievement though.

Now I'm just feeling flat, and wondering why I bother.

Made a load of sacrifices to enter this race, part of a league, no point carrying on now in this league, I'll be the also run who just makes up the numbers. Well I would have been anyway, but with a mid table finish.

I run Parkruns and am a member of two running clubs, nothing competative at all. Im never going to be at the point where I could be subjected to random drugs tests!

Edit - also a PB yesterday but only by a few seconds, yay!

Id fail a drugs test I am sure, I just chug non prescription medicines without a second thought

ibuprofen, I take more than is probably good for me

anti hay fever/allergy tablets all year round

nasal sprays and decongestants when I get sinusitis

etc

probably things in those that are no nos

I am still very cross with myself for ballsing up this time trial race, and can't let it go, but have just enter Race at Your Pace 600 miles category for April, in attempt to force myself to get out there and keep doing it.

Well I didn't know that. Surprised

Fortunately, I rarely use them, unlike the Ibuprofen and allergy tablets.

I'd take a whole box of decongestants over a week or so, but a spray I don't use much, two or three days in a row at most, and then not use for ages.

Yeah, I'd be concerned about doing the amount of fitness training you do, which obviously increases your heart rate to the max, and taking a lot of Ibuprofen. I take them very occasionally when my back is particularly painful, but I'm wary of it. Of course, I'm no medical professional, but just seems logical not to be using too many painkillers for anything - as few as you can get away with seems safest. It may be that your tolerance will be higher because you are fit, but even so...

Also, as someone who does do a lot of hard exercise, you ought to have a better pain tolerance - unless there's some specific condition you're taking them for. You're not taking them just because of normal muscular aches caused by your training, are you? You know what they say; no pain, no gain!

Well it's work. I cycle when I'm tired, i cycle when I'm injured, I cycle when I'm pissed off with cycling and don't want to do it anymore. Then I get up and go out and do it again.

But I'm going to book in and see a sports physio.

Also, wifey bought me a book Triathletes Training Bible, hope she's not trying to tell me something, I ain't doing a triathlon! Laughing but I'm picking up a few tips from that,

so am sleeping more, and have stopped skipping stretches etc

today, I lay in until 11pm,will have an afternoon nap too, and won't get on a bike until 6.30pm and do a social ride with my club.

I am 321 miles into the race at your pace 600 challenge.

back on a stricter diet, getting slightly flabby

I've cycled 1,901 miles so far this year, hoping to exceed 6,000

Also, still on for the Race at Your Pace 600 miles in April I've done 443 already.

Aiming to cycle down to Locksheath, Fareham (Near Portsmouth) Spring bank holiday. Did it once before, hopefully smash that time on my better bike.

Still just can't seem to motivate myself to go running, I can't get out of bed for Park Run, which is a bit early for me, as I'm often working until gone 10pm the night before.

Intend to go out with my running club on Tuesday evening haven't been for weeks.

Tomorrow I start work at 5pm, so will go out for a bit of cycle at lunchtime, 10 to 20 miles and meet the wife at a country cafe, she will take her motorcycle.

It's all gone to shit since realising my knees won't cope with running, and therefore there is no really effective CV training I can do. What's the point? Sad

Tried an elliptical cross trainer? Most gyms have them.

Don't waste your breath on me. Can't afford gym membership, otherwise I'd bloody live there at the moment.

I was quite pleased with myself for what I had achieved with no specialist equipment, spending no money. But a good cv workout is actually what I need, if I'm to bother at all. The circuits and weights were really more just to round things out.

As he said, cross trainer. I don't do treadmill because my knees aren't good, plus I have a weak ankle due to a bad football tackle years ago. Or pick up a cheap exercise bike or rowing machine.

I have finally given up on my S0 Applewatch and gone in for a S4 but now Strava doesn't start recording my runs. I am trying out WorkOutDoors instead as the watch interface is just beautiful and gives a hell of a lot more info and my runs can (apparently) export straight into Strava.

Has anyone else used WorkOutDoors?
