Hi guys,
I got the delivery of Lexmoto Aspire 125 this morning. Everything was working fine this morning when it was brought. I tried to start it in the evening it won't start and there is Engine Management Warning Light on the dash. Anyone knows why?

If it's new then it's the dealer's problem. Get it sorted under warranty. Thumbs Up

Given the cold temperatures of outside at the moment I'd expect it to be hard to start.

Given that it's new I'd expect it's probably not set up optimally and rather whatever they shipped it out of the factory with: you're probably going to need to bump up the idol speed (a screw on the carb) to increase the idol (where the needle sits on the rev counter when no throttle is applied) to ensure it runs smoothly -- do this, however, once you've been out on the road for about ten minutes and then engines warm otherwise you're giving yourself false readings. To adjust it you simply twist the screw, very slightly, in either direction.. after a rev of throttle you should be able to tell if its increasing or decreasing.

You -- that's you not the bike -- are going to need to get used to how it starts. Full choke, button and a bit of throttle until you can react to the noise of it starting and then leave it on full choke until it sounds like it wont die on you when you lessen the choke gradually. You'll learn, the more you ride, how soon or slow it starts in certain weathers.

I'd take a guess that the warning light should go out when it starts. Have you read your owners booklet for clarification?

Be careful on how many times and for how long you attempt to start the bike for: too many times and you'll flood the engine and pressing the starter for too long will eventually kill the battery. Short sprints of about ten seconds, at most, is what I'd consider overkill.

If you don't have any luck getting it going tomorrow then phone the shop on Monday -- that is if they're closed on Sunday -- and ask them to have a look at it.

^^

I’ll bet it’s something far simpler. Kill switch or side stand etc.

To expand: side stands have a switch on them to stop the bike being started while it's down to avoid accidents. Like I experienced on my Lexmoto, however, they do indeed play up and cause starting issues. Better to disconnect the switch sooner rather than later because road gunk at this time of year or ACF-50 noaw.

Don't touch.

If you don't know how it works, dealer. that is what you paid for.

Repeat this until you get it...

I don't know that particular bike but all of mine with engine warning lights stay on until the engine is running.

They are a warning, not a cause.

ABS light? (I'm guessing) Mine comes on upon startup and goes out at 6mph.

Is the neutral light green when you turn the key? Could be in gear hence refusing to start.

It'd also be useful to know what is actually happening.

Is it turning over and not catching, is it just giving a bit of a click when the button is pressed but nothing else, do all the electrics die when you press the button (instrument panel turning off etc).

"My bike doesn't start" isn't much to go on.

My money would be on it being in gear, or kill switch, or some weird Chinese idea of not allowing to start when on the sidestand. That sort of stuff catches everyone out from time to time.

If OP never answers, I'm going to assume "OTR costs cover PDI, first registration, number plate, and a full tank of fuel" was the correct lie. Whistle

Nah, I reckon it was something embarrassingly simple and he got it started and will never be seen again.

Nah, like press the main beam button rather than the starter. That sort of simple.

OP probably realised the kill switch was on and hasn't bothered coming back as he probably forgot where he asked.
