Beats the Borg again Dance!

Headlines:
We're all screwed - 18% down overall YTD, and a whopping 50% on proper bikes in the discreet month; that's huge and probably just shows the massive amount of pre-registering from last year.

Some interesting bikes in the list. KTM second on the overall sales list?!

Sumbitch, I just checked for that before I escaped from Toilpod Towers. Mad

Mopeds are recovering though, yay.

Bear in mind that December 2016 was the pre-Euro4bollocks preregaganza, so it's not as doomgloom as it appears.

435 Duke 390s? When Yamaha only registered 453 bikes all-in? I have to wonder if anyone verified that number. But then, 230 Superdukes, so it may be legit. Yay, I guess: I might have a 390 after it's had its 20th recall and there's nothing left to go wrong.

It's a poor month for BMW when anything beats off the GS for the Adventure Sport crown. I'm having trouble thinking of a bike that embodies either activity less than the NC750X.

If you take out 125's and below, the yearly figures aren't so bad - about 4.5% down.

The small engine market has been devastated though.

What the hell is going on there? I have trouble believing that unless KTM have been giving them away in cornflakes boxes.

Mass registrations before the end of the year? Dealers wanting their bonuses? Whistle

KTM pre-reg'd all their unsold UK stock of 390's in December and sold them off for 3 grand(ish). Fantastic deal if you were after one.

Are they not compliant with eurobollox or something that means they need to be punted out sharpish?

It seems a very expensive thing to do if it is just to boost sales figures!

I'm not aware of any new changes this year.

DVLA are granting a 2 year grandfathering in period for some amount of pre-bollocks stock, but I'd have expected that to last until the end of 2018.

However, technically there was a serving of bollocks at the start of 2016 (always on lights, low emission fuel systems) which would have run out now, but that diktat was universally ignored so far as I can see.

tl;dr version - maybe, dunno.

Making way for the 2017 model? Why is it being discounted already? Confused https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KTM-390-DUKE-2017-0-FINANCE/152858116875?hash=item23970dc30b:g:wzcAAOSwkvFaU2Gt

That looks like one of the batch that I referred to earlier. Must still be some around (and it will be pre-reg'd).

Oh ok, I thought they were discounting the old model. Still don't know why they'd discount the current one so much. They dumped the 200 for 2k (IIRC?) but that's cos they were pulling the model from the UK market.

That is utterly ludicrous, There are second hand ones more expensive than new ones. Aren't KTM doing a Suzuki and devaluing their product?

And screwing any dealers who are sitting on used stock, yes.

I was so nearly tempted with a 390 just because they were so cheap but decided that I didn't need, couldn't afford and had no space for another bike.

I bought a 690 instead Shocked

That's my reason for not getting one. Why get a castrated (barely legal) A2 bike when they have the 690.
