Bigger bikes are great if and when you have the roads to use them on.

Again I disagree Very Happy Even overtaking someone monging along at 20 mph, more power makes it safer IMO. On my 125 if the car decided to accelerate I'd sometimes struggle to get the overtake done, and you'd have to commit to overtaking fairly early going uphill otherwise you'd lose too much momentum, when on a big(ger) bike you can hang back and choose your opportunity a bit better.

+1

Being overtaken by lorries while riding a YBR is not a nice feeling. Bigger bikes are much safer IMO

That depends, I need to phone them to discuss it but their website info is faulty.

"Zadzwoń do mnie
Zadzwoń na 708-777-053 i wybierz numer wewnętrzny 982

Napisz do mnie
Wyślij sms o treści CZEKAM.AGNIESZKA89 na numer 73976"

The country code for Poland is +48 but then I just get told that "708-777-053" is an incorrect number.

Sorry for not getting back to any of you guys on here, things have been a bit hectic.

So I mentioned earlier that I have some health problems, well, I've finally found out why. For 2 years I was going to the Doctors complaining of pain and nausea only to be knocked back and told it was all in my head. I was even accused of just trying to score some opiate painkillers on a few occasions. Over this time I was just honestly getting more and more depressed about it and I was slowly losing interest in all the things I used to enjoy. When I posted my initial posts in this thread I was in a very down and bitter mood, I thought perhaps I was going mad to be honest and that I was going to have to live like this for the foreseeable future.

Well, I tried another surgery and my new GP agreed to run some tests on me and after an ultrasound, turns out I have a giant kidney stone! She says that a stone that size (about 6cm judging from the scan) can cause back ache, nausea, problems concentrating, headaches, stabbing pains etc. She basically rattled off every thing I have been feeling for 2 years! I've got a meeting with a specialist in the next couple of weeks to talk about getting this thing removed and after that I should be back to my old self.

I'll give it about 3 - 4 weeks after the surgery then I'll be hopping back on the bike. I can't describe how happy I am to finally have an answer to all the crap I've been going through these past years. It wasn't that I was bored of the bike (or other things for that matter), I was feeling like crap and didn't feel like doing anything as a result. Amazing how chronic pain can change you as a person.

Good Luck and nice to read a follow up that is good news. I suffered for 25 years being refuted by various Doctors before eventually having a sit in at the surgery because eating an apple was forcing me to burst my trousers. A year of tests and pokeing and proding, cameras, samples and an operation have all now been completed and things have changed drasticly.

Once again - good luck.

Sounds great but what BCF really wants to know is - how did you clean your helmet?

LOL! I ended up having to replace the removable lining and cheeck pads of the helmet, the rest of it was fine after 3 washes with fairy liquid. Cost me about £70 if I recall.

Recover from the kidney stones.
Spend a few months on a 125 - yes it will be limiting with no motorways but will really give you chance to practice traffic, junctions and smaller country roads, for reading the conditions and the different handling characteristics of the bike.
If you can, commute on the 125 as well, save a fortune on commuting costs while building up lots of experience in a short time.
Then if you like it, find a different test centre for your mod 2.
If you don't like it, you'll have at least experienced it, given it a good shot and not just given up.

6th - Overtook slow moving car on dual carriageway then was asked perhaps a few hundred yards from a round about that we were turning left. The left lane was full of traffic so I deemed it safer to remain in the Right lane and go around the round about, coming off at the exit I would have taken if I were in the left lane. I disputed this one too but the examiner said I was wrong to do so.

I did exactly this on my test, the instructor congratulated me and said it was a savvy move. What else can you do in that situation?! Surely thats the safest option.

meh - I used to think that, but now I just walk past my bikes and ignore them mostly, unless (a) I have to get somewhere, and it's too far to cycle, (b) I'm going green laning

I might perk up in the summer, but I just don't even look forward to road riding at all, I just see it as a chore Confused

Ah, el' Cronikko' here is tussling with the same reality except in the classical art of foreboding.

Hey, 1 year and 11 months after my CBT - the day has arrived new and bright. Time to jump into the nearly- big boy pants and green light smack-down on the A2 booking.

I fear the MOD 2 like no other.

I expect to be in the same sloppy mud of which you currently dwell.

I don't see me passing it. I catastrophize on the day where the seconds tick by like a New York minute and I'm constantly OCD-ing on "signal first?", "manoeuvre second?", "did I act out that mirror-check enough?"
"did he see me?", "can he hear me?"

I hope you pass someday. New direction is needed first though, possibly some cooling time. How far apart did you take these tests?

Lady time isn't on my side either: I have a theory to practice, book and pass before even considering training. Less than a month to do so.

you should probably wait and renew your CBT... you aint going to get Theory and Mod 1 passed (waiting times) within a month.
