GSXR 600 K1 2'nd gear?

So I picked up a spare engine for my track bike,
all I was told was low miles road bike with 2'nd gear problems.
As it came complete with starter/down pipes for £60 (and the guy seemed really keen on keeping in touch for track days etc) I went for it on his word.

Having a play with the engine, it turns freely and smoothly on the starter and by hand, compression test shows all pot's are healthy and not deviating more than +/- 4 psi. Sparkplugs look healthy.

A cursory google on the 2'nd gear problem suggest if it's been done properly expect to change 2'nd, 6'th gear and a fork or two. If it's not been anvil smashed by a wheelie pro then as little as just a fork or cog.

I'm essentially looking for advice on what to look out for when I open it up? Is it going to be blatantly obvious and what else should I be looking at/replacing whilst I have it apart?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

It should be obvious, especially for a track bike where they wouldn't really care if it blew it's guts out so long as it got to the end of the session.

Check the dogs on the gears , they should be sharp , no round edges and the relevant selector fork should show no signs of wear or burn marks
