It was just ment to be simple job of replacing the copper gaskets on my
CBF500. Turned into a bit of a nightmare.

Took the bike into the shop for the job, my mechanic agreed the copper
gaskets needed replacing and perhaps the downpipes because they were
in poor shape.

So the plan was new downpipes, I opted for Pattern pipes £140, sadly
that went totally wrong because the pipes didn't fit properly down to
bad manufacturing.

After a phone call I was told the original pipes got damaged upon removal
and the replacements wouldn't fit. My only option was Genuine so
rather than having more problems I asked for NEW downpipes which
were an eyewatering £400.

The job was completed without anymore problems, I also had the rear
brake pads replaced (OE) so I ended up with a £600 bill.....OUCH.

Thankfully the bike sounds like the day I bought her...

So much for a simple job.

If it's nothing that money can't fix it's soon going to be a distant memory.

Enjoy your bike & the time you own it.

Sounds like a pretty simple job to be honest, you handed over money it came back done. Doesn't get simpler than that!

Pattern down pipes never fit straight on, its not bad manufacturing....tis just the law of things Thinking .

Ive probably fitted hundreds of the things on all sorts over my years on the tool.... cant recall any going straight on without some "gentle" manipulation. Thats why the expensive ones generally come as individual headers rather than all 4 as a lump.

Glad you got it sorted.

How long until some fukwit gets banned again?

I hope it sticks this time.

Or should it be given the label Autistic so everyone knows to allow it those Outbursts of Emotions?

I have no idea, but I don't think there are many pattern pipes for a CBF500.

Shame Motad are not around, never had a problem with their pipes.

Also why OE pads? I just chuck the cheapest ones I can find in the back brake. Which are usually AKA and cost £6.49.

OE last longer for starters, using cheapo shit means I would be changing pads every 2000 miles.

holy shit, learn to do these things yourself Laughing

Black widow pipes seem to be hit and miss from what i've read, I put some on the gpz and they're fine (the centre stand stop is in the wrong place but the centre stand isn't attached so meh. Apart from that they fit straight on fine. Not a tough job though...and rear pads....tenner and 10 minutes to fit..

being skint is a good teacher on how to fix things yourself though so you'll probably learn loads now you're out of 600 quids
