MOT History From Northern Ireland

Any idea why I can't view the history of a bike that currently resides in Northern Ireland? Surely they're connected up the same database, yet I've tried three different number plates and none of them show up - just claims there's no record of that bike existing.

Not sure if NI is the same, but it's not unheard of for vehicles who start their life in mainland UK, to pop over to Ireland to clean a dubious history.

You get loads of Transporters coming in from Ireland with lack of history. Many turn out to be former crash damaged vans and buses originally UK registered, often higher mileage heaps given a haircut.

I’ve just read that the testing stations are all government run and that the checks are very stringent in Northern Ireland. Don’t know why they’re not linked up with the DVLA database though, or have we ceded the six counties and not been told?

I (personally, on no real info) believe that we're holding that political spud at arm's length so that we can drop it if it gets too hot.
