Hi

I have the following problem with my bike:

I am not able to set the idle to the recommended 1200-1300rpm, rather the idle hovers over something close to 600ish Confused

Making the fuel richer helps to increase the rpm slightly (maybe up to unsteady 800-1000) but the bike takes sometime to return to idle speed after opening throttle which suggests mix is too rich and therefore not the solution.

The bike starts no problem with choke, keeping to circa 4000rpm, once warm (after two minutes), it starts no problem even without choke but runs at low rpm.

Background:

The bike stood for maybe 2/3 years in a garage. I had a friend to clean the carburettor. The air filter has been checked, it is clean/dry as well. The spark 'looked' ok but we have discovered at some point that the carb was missing a spring and a washer on the pilot screw assembly so, when ordering new assembly i also bought a spark plug which was replaced today. Both the missing washer or the new spark plug shown little or no difference to how the bike runs.

Also, new petrol was put in, and the petrol filter was cleaned.

Both me and my friend think we are running out of options, please help Sad

There should be an idle adjustment screw which lifts the carb slide,
this should work providing the pilot jet has been cleaned and the sealed mixture screw set.
