If it is securely fixed, airtight and doesn't foul anything else, it should be ok. I've seen bikes pass with an exhaust held on with fencing wire.
Just be aware it gives an impression of general shoddiness which may make then less likely to overlook something else. They do get inspected periodically and if they miss stuff, they can have their MOT licence suspended ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

I just ordered the new metal strap for 9£ so will install this one when it comes. And later on will change the exhaust can to something better and smaller hopefully will sound as good as now with this one
I see a lot of jealous people here |

Lol
Little xj6... thats a beast, the original exhaust system was changed to this one which removed extra weight of the i call it ''cockroach exhaust can under the bike'', and it has 47bhp.
Getting back to the topic
Thats the safest level you could achieve ever for such price.
R6 exhaust system =70£
Lextec can = if i remember well 40£
Flexi pipe = 10-20£ and some time spend on it and the sound is awesome + i think its faster too
Explanation of the design/construction
The long bolt thread is exposed so much because how else i would secure the exhaust to the bike + to keep a distance between exhaust can and swing arm/rear brake, its thread because i could easily adjust it .
2 locking nuts because 1 nut the inside one is to adjust the distance + so when you ride the exhaust wont move closer or away from the bike[To the sides], so it is nice and secure nothing moves all tight.

It didn't work though, something got stressed and something snapped, so it's stupid.
You have zero idea about mechanical forces. It's fairly obvious *why* the bandl snapped, just from the single pic, but given you know all about it, you have at it sonny, show us old fellas how it's done. |
Well it worked for 2 years straight which is long enough, nothing lasts forever and everything will break one day, + riding on British roads adds it all up, instead riding in London and enjoying i need to be always alert to dodge some huge hole or else you will drop if you ride into it. Really roads in London are so awful and the organization as well, i reported about 15+ huge holes over 2 years and it usually take them 2 weeks to fix it, 1st week they just spray it white around and then fix it next week.
Rear brakes, new pads about 2 months old as well as bleed the hole system/new oil.
It passed MOT with the same exhaust setup last year no problem only thing was ''slightly loud'' |
