Hello. My blade is dead.

Been riding it daily, 20-30 miles a day, not a problem starting even in this cold weather. Bike has a datatool sys3 alarm.

New motobatt, reg/rec and stator about 4 months ago.

The other morning I went to go to work, blipped alarm, nothing. Key in ignition, nothing. Moved it, no alarm beeps.

I've checked all fuses, battery, and tried jumping it off a car and charging the battery.

I don't have any daylight hours until Wednesday to strip off the panels to look at things, so will be looking then.
The thing that concerns me is the alarm not doing anything, as it should have power of it's own.

I'm aware that these alarms can fail and do horrible things that take a while to strip out and fix.

What do?

The Alarm only has power while the bike has life in it`s own battery, and then for a short period if that is disconnected,
What can happen on older alarms with battery back up is the batteries can fail, causing it to charge the alarm constantly, as the bike battery isnt typically the biggest, It wont charge the alarm forever,

Charge bike battery off bike and test, try battery then on bike, if it starts get an Amp meter inline and measure the load being drawn, then pull the fuse for the alarm and see if this drain drops.

All a guess from the information supplied.

The battery won't last forever, and I couldn't find a replacement after about 12 years loyal service. It's time.

Have you identified if the alarm has a separate battery? Is this holding 12v?

The S3 does have it's own battery, but if the bike has no power at all it won't be because of the alarm/immobiliser.

If it's the battery (because perhaps you left the parking light on) then it should respond to jump-leads. If it doesn't then I suggest checking the main 30A fuse on the starter solenoid as a first step.

Checked this, and the rest of the fuses. The battery shows as fully charged.

If you have power out of the 30A fuse turn the switch to Park. If the parking light doesn't come on the ignition switch is faulty, or the loom plug is rotten.
