Just bought me a CF70, No registration plate, fender etc so lets hope it doesn't turn out to be stolen - but he who dares roda's.
Picked it up an intial assessment is....
No fenders or plate, or knowledge what year it is. Google not fruitfull (c702031***)
Mirrors, battery and rear frame with indicators and brake light on missing.
Seat base extreamly rusty, highly unlikely to be salvable.
What looks to be front sprocket wedged under seat and chain flapping in the wind.
Notch on cylinder head exhaust port, almost looks like its supposed to be there but I expect not.
No keys
Apart from that I'm pretty impressed, brakes work, engine seems to have good compression, first order of business will be getting it dated somehow, hopefully its already registered and the DVLA will be able to link the Vin (Optimistic). That going well I can put an information request into them for its life history - Hopefully that doesn't include someone missing it.
Then get it running.
Then tackle cosmetics. Wish me luck - Rubbish picture but I had to get it in the garage before judgment was upon me.

Ahhh I used to ride one of these up and down the garages next to our house, annoying the neighbours with noise and by breaking up their TV reception with what must have been unsuppressed ignition! Taking it to the woods and getting a very wobbly 30 on the clock was one of the scariest things I've ever done..
Best of luck with it ____________________ 1994 CB250, 1984 CBX250RS-E, 1989 K100RS, 1995 TRX850, 2016 Z250SL |

Here we go, I've been a bit slack with before and after photos as my phones not happy.
Wiring had been played with and I couldn't get to anything to test it so went for the stripdown. Frame had surface rust, and although seemed to be painted in celly or similer, that polished up a treat, it was to far pitted to avoid a repaint.

<Br>All the screws and bolts had a funny pattern on the head, and as all my stocks imperial I decided to blast, treat and Nickel Cobalt plate along the way - pain in the ass. But satisfying as they go from this...

These were for the wheels. Aluminium Oxide blasted the outer rims, glass bead bladed the ali hubs - then the bolts you saw above back together again. Plated the sproket too as it had a funny penguin on and it is probably original. Used some Rim Paint after on the hub and outers as it seemed to match photos I'd seen of a factory bike.
Few ods and sods getting ready.

Ordering the paint was a challenge as no one had the recipe. I figured from google it was Light Ruby Red. Polished a section of the frame and took it in to get scanned but it wasn't flat enough for their machine. So hundreds of sample cards later I ended up with this.

My blasting cabinet isn't big enough for the frame, so I put a sheet over one end, went everywhere lol but got the frame done. 2k Primer, base and Cleared. Happy with the finish, nothing that wont flat and polish if I can be bothered.

Camera always makes it look red but its absolutly pink to the eye. Its ever so slightly a bright pink than it was before but then having clear over the top I think makes the colours slightly brighter than celly anyway.

Starting to build her back up now. Painted the forks, swingarm and light housing. Scratched the swingarm trail fitting so thats back off. Forks need touching up in a couple of spots but I can do that on the bike if it bothered me later on as they are in good places.

I unwrapped the loom, made some repairs and rewrapped. The tinternet wireing diagram was nothing like my colour scheme, turns out I had the wrong diagram dispite it saying 6v 3 speed CF70 on it.
Got some original Honda Stickers for her and a new key ignition - with Keys this time.

Chromework isn't perfect but it is 40ish years old so hay ho.

Rear shocks are too far gone I think. The bottom steel bits were rusty next to the wheel. They would polish up and wax but I think its going to spoil it. The bottoms are Ali. I'm tempted the glass bead the ali, and paint the chrome part to match the uppers. Won't be original, but they probably are the original shocks so would be a shame to bin them off. Rechroming them will be too much money, and the springs seem to be attached for me nicket cobolting them.
